pmsimkins 03-24-2007, 12:19 PM So are we making the sintered rotors legal for 13.5 this summer?
lloydd2 03-24-2007, 01:32 PM The sintered rotor IS legal for the outdoor season. This is a result of the fact they are now standard in the 13.5 motors and it was decided that it be OK'ed for the upgrade outside. Understand....that it is the individual’s choice to upgrade or not. What is trying to be avoided is the concerns of the 1 or 2, that they have to upgrade to be competitive....we all know that if the car is setup right.......you will be competitive.
Also note that I was asked to run controlled practice again this summer. Just like last summer, we will have the practice times posted. Also like last year, you will adhere to your scheduled times. Also like last year.....you will be allowed to run on the track if the class that is scheduled has no one on the track at that time.....BE AWARE that if a person whose class is schedued wants to run and a person from another class is on the track.....that person will be asked to remove his car in NO MORE than 2 laps to allowed the scheduled classes their allotted practice time. I hope that all racing the BIG track will have a very fun summer........Good Racing to all.

Dave J 03-24-2007, 04:38 PM THANK YOU !!! Steve and LD for posting the information for this year's outdoor season
I'm sure things will be be up on the website soon
MIDWESTRC 03-25-2007, 11:40 AM No problem Dave, just trying to make your job easier. You have enough things to do around there, so one or two of us can keep up the thread for track.
jflack 03-25-2007, 02:45 PM Man Why did you change from the 4th of July race? Really don't know if I can make late July, will try but need to be at the Nats track for practice!
burbs 03-28-2007, 06:54 AM I think it is a good move for attendance... Lots of people have other stuff to do on holidays.. I personally would like to see more races on holidays.. being i work weekends, thats less vacation i have to burn...
rockin_bob13 03-28-2007, 01:31 PM Tri-Clone Dave, did you get your Indy car yet? I've still got mine ready to go with the 13.5 4-cell. Can't wait to drive anything there. 10.5 stock car is ready.
MIDWESTRC 03-28-2007, 10:51 PM Triclone Dave is offline for awhile, but I will get the message to him.
KLUPI 03-31-2007, 11:36 PM I am looking to race at the Tri-Clone this year on the pavement for the first time. The carpet racing was a blast and the paved track looks just as fun. What compund tires do you recomend to start with. What body does everyone run on the big track. I race in the 4300 class.

Hi Klupi,
We welcome you to racing on the Big Track the summer.....you will find it a rush. The standard that everyone has found that works are the BSR racing caps. What we run as a benchmark are: S blue net right front, L blue non net left front, R wide blue net right rear and L green (or pink) narrow non net left rear. You won't find many that will not be using this combination and not be successful. Shock oils and springs will change a little more depending on how you like the car to feel......but the tire selection will not change much. The body of choice last year was the Protoform HD Monti Carlo. This year, the Protoform Charger may also work. I heard rumors that the new Camry may make an appearance......we will see how it works. Hope this helps and we will see you out at the track.

KLUPI 04-01-2007, 11:38 PM I have all three bodies and I am going to bring them all to the track to test with. Hays Sr. called me up and is sending a set of tires. I can't wait for th track to open.
burbs 04-02-2007, 07:22 AM dont forget to mount your wing on the pod... Body mounted wings arent the fast way around.. The corners are very agressive, and the pod unloads very fast.. you need the downforce on the pod..
pmsimkins 04-02-2007, 09:38 AM I have all three bodies and I am going to bring them all to the track to test with. Hays Sr. called me up and is sending a set of tires. I can't wait for th track to open.
Hi Ken. If you have bodies that were mounted for carpet and you cut the front end to be low it'll be hard to get the cap tires under them without rubbing the fenders.
jflack 04-02-2007, 06:15 PM Body wing holds the 4 cell Stock track record! 36 4:01.......
jflack 04-02-2007, 06:17 PM Never tried a body wing on the 4300 car, I think a pod wing would be better in the faster classes.....
pmsimkins 04-02-2007, 07:05 PM I tried the body wing in 4300 once the summer before last. The car got around alright, but was touchier and ultimately not quite as fast.
chuck47 04-02-2007, 07:08 PM How far up can we cut out the back on a late model
Curt H 04-02-2007, 07:08 PM Pat, Just wanted to say it was great racing aganist you this winter & congrats on the BRL series championship. Congrats also to Jr. on his A main run in springfield.
Can't wait to start running caps this summer as long as Loyd can spot for me again.
Thanks again Dave for giving us a place to play with are toy cars.
Dave J 04-02-2007, 07:49 PM How far up can we cut out the back on a late model
Chuck, the McCallister bodies have a cut line on the back just follow that

Thanks Curt! I had fun racing with you as well. You've really had the car on a rail lately. I'm sorry it didn't quite work out at Allen's, you had a rocket ship on Friday though.
See you in a month or so.
chuck47 04-02-2007, 09:06 PM Yes I see after looking a little closer at it :o but it is high and isn't straight across as I expecited:cool: it's a Hagerstown body so I will cut it there
Hays Jr 04-02-2007, 09:29 PM Ken,
I can give you a good starting place for the Gen 2.
This is what I ran last year
RF:
Green progressive spring .040" preload (either KSG Blue or silva copper will be close to this also)
Bottom hole on the castor block.
2.5 degree camber
either 60K or 100K dampening
#1 locator "IN"
LF
Green Progressive spring .060" preload
Top hole on castor block
2.5 deg camber
60K or 100K dampening
#1 locator "IN"
Center:
Offset T-Plate, Offset Pod
KSG Dbl slotted .063"
60wt #3 piston
Associated Silver center spring, good amount of preload
4 holes up on the shock mount
Sides:
silver side springs
30wt oil
320ish grams for tweak
2nd hole from the bottom on the mounts
Rear:
offset hub with 1 .020" shim on the right side
Shim the LR so its out 1/8" from the LF
Any of the Protoform bodies will work just depends how you wan the car to feel. Most of the 4300 guys used the HD monte last year or the charger. I'd probably recommend the charger to start out with since it is a little more forgiving. You'll need the big BRP wing also. You'll need to raise your car up quite a bit also. The orange .060" shims in the front. I dont remember exactly what i had for ride height carriers in the rear but its usually close to .500" to the top of the chassis back by the rear pod. If you have any questions give me a call.
KLUPI 04-03-2007, 12:22 AM Thanks, Hays Jr I printed off the info on the setup. Your dad is setting me up with tires and the pod wing mounts. Is the two elemant BRP wing the same as the "Big" wing? If not I have to get one. I also picked up a Hyperdrive Pro 3 Solid from your dad. I want to use that for the outdoors to start. I am trying not to use my GEN2 for outdoors since it is already set up for carpet and is working great. I called Fank from PROBUILT and he is probably going to do some work on the chassis for my Hyperdrive. If the Hyperdrive doesn't work out, I will run my GEN2. As for the bodies I have all three bodies brand new in the plastic that I am going to mount up. I guess I will have to test to see whats the best.
Thanks Again and see you soon
i_set_fire 04-03-2007, 01:30 AM hey all! hope the carpet was good to everyone, but now its time for some fun outside :) i want to get the stock brushless, is it the 13.5? also what is a good ESC? has the GTB been working out well? sorry, but i dont have much time to research them myself so if anyone has some suggestions they would be appreciated. looking forward to a fun season. cheers :-)
KLUPI 04-03-2007, 05:43 AM There is the 13.5 class which is the stock set up. It is slower than a 4300, but from what I here on the paved track they are plenty fast. As for a speed control you cant go wrong with a Novak GTB or the new GTB four cell. The GTB four cell is basically a modified version of what most people have done to the original GTB, remove the heat sink and cap. Never had a problem with my GTB.
slots 04-03-2007, 12:21 PM Are you running BRL spec bodies in 13.5 or are you allowing wings?
pmsimkins 04-03-2007, 02:15 PM Allowing wings and th back of the body to be cut out.
Bob Wright 04-03-2007, 07:38 PM What class is everyone planning to run and which day Saturday or Tuesdays?
Andy Koback 04-03-2007, 10:03 PM 13.5 for me, and whenever I can make it, on Saturdays.
I'm planning on Saturdays & 4300.
MIDWESTRC 04-03-2007, 10:44 PM Cody will be in 13.5, on Saturdays
hefty12 04-03-2007, 11:38 PM I should be there most Tuesdays and Saturdays. I'll run whatever class is available.
pmsimkins 04-04-2007, 12:22 AM Most Saturdays and some Tuesdays. 4300 if we have a solid class, 13.5 otherwise.
i_set_fire 04-04-2007, 01:07 AM saturdays 13.5. good times. thanks for the help klupi

Bob Wright 04-04-2007, 07:57 PM ...and some "Classical Gas" from Grif!!! LOL
I have dids on the pit spot next to Grif!!!
Bob, you're the best right-hand man around! Always ready with a pit towel to wipe!!
Andy, let's just hope that I don't go shopping for a new speedo for this summer!!
Lloyd, since you're always coaching everyone I'm gonna get you a whistle and stopwatch to wear around your neck. I'm sorry to say that you'll have to leave some of that "BLING" at home!!
Hurricane Racer 04-04-2007, 09:53 PM I might be running more 13.5 as I'm not sure how much I will be able to race. Probably everyother saturday and a tuesday here and there.
As my wife likes to tell me, "racing little r/c cars is over-rated, and the money is better spent on diapers, formula and real kid toys."
pmsimkins 04-04-2007, 09:55 PM As my wife likes to tell me, "racing little r/c cars is over-rated, and the money is better spent on diapers, formula and real kid toys."
Just divorce her Neal!
Kidding
Andy Koback 04-04-2007, 10:04 PM But...These are real kid toys, just a little more expensive than most!!!
You're too old to play with toy cars Andy!! Didn't your MaMa teach you anything??
lloydd2 04-04-2007, 10:49 PM Grif....unlike you, I didn't buy a vehicle just so I could put 35" spinners on it.....talk about BLING. Andy and Neal.....if you pay attention sometimes you will see that some REAL KIDS don't necessarily use diapers or formula. Isn't that right BILL!!! :)
LD
Aren't you guys having the "Midwest brushless Bash" this year? That was a lot of fun last year.
