it's been bugging me since I first saw the FC '71 Mustang that the hood looks like it should open... like it's cast as a separate piece from the body. so I looked under mine today... it IS a separate piece. it's just two little rivet-type things that hold it to the body. So I dremeled them off to see what would happen...

looks like a great opportunity for a custom! Put in an engine and detail the engine compartment... or do a PIP diorama with an engine hoist... or maybe Zingerize it... or swap the hood for the Mach 1 hood off a JL?

My guess is they made the hood a separate piece so they could issue it later with a Mach 1 style hood...
