So i broke my crankshaft today and found out i'm also gonna need a new piston, cluctch shoes, sleeve, and a clutch spring. I was wondering if it is cheaper to buy those parts and replace them or just buy a new moto that puts out about the same power as the XTM 24.7 or more power. If it is like a $30 dollar difference then i would get the new motor.
thanks,

It might be cheaper to buy the parts to fix your engine, but for a few bucks more you could just buy a new XTM.

If the repair cost is 50% or more of the price of a new engine!! buy a new engine

Never rebuild, throw in the trash and buy new. I have found it costs about the same to rebuild a motor as to buy new. If you don't replace bearings, rod, cylinder and piston you will have trouble down the road. I rebuilt a RB C5 and had over $300 in it. I should have sent it to the trash can! New motors from here on out. I have a Ninja with almost 6 gallons on it. Bought it new and have not had 1 problem with it.When it goes I will trash it and buy a new engine.
