New thread for the summer 2007 offroad season.

Looks like a great summer coming up -

May 26? - Possible Memorial Weekend race - last year's regular weekly race on this saturday was huge. Might as well look into making it a special occasion!

July 14/15 - ROAR Region 5 Offroad

August 11 - Factory Tracks Midwest Series Race

September - Indiana Outdoor Electric Offroad Champs.

Plus all of the regular weekly races in between just for the pure fun of offroad racing!

Check out www.summitrcraceway.com (http://www.summitrcraceway.com)

Looks like Nick Elonza And John Marshall will be running XX4's this year. Should be some real competition in that class.

I hope to donate some time. I don't know much about putting one in, but I can help sling a wheel barrow.

Hey Dale, I have some LiPo batteries for you to check out. I think their gonna be sweet. I bring them in tomorrow night.

Anyone put any thought into running 6 minute qualifiers and maybe some 8 minute mains in offroad?

Anyone put any thought into running 6 minute qualifiers and maybe some 8 minute mains in offroad? We run 6 minute quals last year.I remember having to pedal for 8 minutes in 12 stock back before the batteries were on steroids, and it sucked. I am all for more seat time, but I don't want to win a race because I have brand new 4200s and someone else has last year's 3800s. Now I know that off-road doesn't suck the juice like on-road does, but I'm worried about scaring off some of the lower budget racers because they can't battery up and there is no way I'm going to pedal in stock on the dirt. I think 6 minutes is plenty...

yeah, i was thinkin of that too, i have some old 3300's that i use and i can go out and practice for well over 10 minutes... yeah i know that practice and racing are different drain on the batteries, but i also know that after a 6 minute race is done i can go back out and pratice for several more minutes. Why not try it, if only for one heat or one qualifier?

what kind of turn out are we looking at this year. as it looks like some people turned to the nitro side.

sheath
03-21-2007, 10:41 AM
I'm expecting the turnouts to better than last year. Yes, a few have moved to nitro racing, but I think we will see several new faces as regulars too.

2WD stock came on strong last summer and should remain that way this summer.

4WD mod seems like it will stay strong and probably grow this year again. I've heard several people mention running their 4 wheelers this summer. I'll be running my XX4 again this year and hope to get more consistant and at least run more laps than the stock trucks! Maybe I can get some driving lessons and learn a little along the way.

There are always trucks out for offroad.

Should be a great summer!

sportpak

Don't worry about the nitro guys. Let them do their thing, if we don't blow them a bunch of BS, maybe they'll show up once in a while. We're here to talk about the electric Summit outdoor season. We need to get started recruiting some new meat.

I can't wait to get the BK2 busy.

Anyway, i got a buddy with a really old Losi Street Weapon, maybe i can get him to swap over to 2 wheel!

We redo the track at the start of the season if we have enough people.

If people expect a new track, then those people need to help out. I'll help with what I can. A little extra effort and we can get this thing done in no time.

i can help as long as the gf is not working. when is the season looking to start. April 21st is the weekend of the Tractor Pull & Monster Truck meet at the raceway and we will rework the track that weekend and then we'll start the season the 28th. Anyone wanting to start before then will be good also.

If you spend all winter dreamin about a cross-over jump on the race track... you just might be a red neck, lmao. that is seriously the most redneck thing i have ever herd you say, lol.

I am planning on bringing two B4s one for stock and one mod. I also have a Schumacher Cat 3000 I will try. A gas 1/8 scale destroyed my XX4 last year at another track.

Based on the turnout at Lynn last year for the state race, you have the only true state championship race. Stock day there were four buggies and six (I think) trucks. Mod day was slightly better.

I will try to be there to help with the track build.

Will a Novak 13.5 brushless be allowed in stock. No big deal if not just asking.

Put me in the same group. We need a signature jump to keep us on the map.

My wife made plans for herself on the track build weekend. That means I'm good for all day. :hat:

hahaha, yeah, i thought you might like that.

I think we really should try runnin at least one 8 minute qual on one of the early weeks... we would proly be the only track in the world runnin 8 min. in electric, if that aint something to put us on the map another criss-cross definately will not.
