I am trying to build a vehicle that has wheels that only spin in one direction--forward. I know there is this device that I can attach to the axle or wheel to allow for the shaft to only spin in one direction and not spin in the other. What is this part called? (I need to know in order to be able to order it online)
Thanks.

In industrial applications, I believe it's called a Torrington bearing but I may be wrong.

There are at least 3 types of "one-ways" that I know of that are used in Auto. Transmissions. This is probably the easiest found for an RC application.

The easiest way to get on is to get the replacement bearing for a pull starter for any gas motor. They are usually 1/4" ID and anywhere from 3/8" - 1/2" OD. Also, some touring cars use them.
Torrington is the name of a bearing company in Torrington, CT. I'm sure they also manufacture them too!

Rick, it's Timken (sp) now, and they are moving out of Torrington. It used to be the largest employer in town.
