Better left to cartoon-land IMHO.

It's hard enough to cast one superhero lead, let alone several like Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman...

Why not just use the guys that appeared in the most recent films?

Which director to use, or studio? What deal or contract to follow?

Hey guys, been on the road for a while for work. Now I'm back. Missed this board, I did.

I was just thinking about this as I was watching the Justice League on my portable DVD player. With the success of the Comic Booki hero films of lately, I was wondering who'd you cast for the roles?

Superman
Wonder Woman
Green Lantern
Flash
Hawkgirl
John, the Martian
Batman

Surely, Jessica Alba has gotta be one of the two gals. She was hot in the F4 film.

Most likely villians would be Luthor or Brainiac

Like I said, better left to cartoon-land. The X-Men movies worked as well as they did because of their self-contained mythos and the underlying theme of "otherness". Throwing together a bunch of disparate Superheroes with different origins and histories just for the sake of a "team-up" isn't gonna' work for anybody but fanboys. I guarantee you this movie will die on the vine - as it should.

It doesn't seem like a very good idea to me at this time but if they let the characters develop, as they are by using SMALLVILLE as a platform, it could work.

I didn't really care for X-Men movies either but those movies made millions!!!! What do I know?

I just hope it's not campy like the craptacular - tho somewhat fondly remembered by me - "Justice League" live-action TV movie that was made back in the late-70's/early-80's. Anyone else remember that one...? :freak:

BTW, for the record, I love the X-Movies that have been done, tho have been disappointed in aspects of each of them. Still, I think they did a great job w/the overall storylines for each, as well as keeping continuity going pretty well between them. While things could have been better in some instances, I think they did a great job considering how much source material they had to work with, as well as keeping the core characters origin stories intact.

Late 90s actually. Made for TV. I used to have a bootleg on tape. I don't think "campiness" was so much a problem as was budget - and the fact that you can't approach some subjects all that seriously in the first place. Not all comic book titles rate a "serious" treatment nor do they deserve one. It helps to remember that The JLA and Marvel's The Avengers (and any other "let's throw them all together in one title" comic book team-up you can name) were a pretty cynical (and obvious) marketing device by comic book publishers in the first place. That was their only reason for being. If the "thematic" substance isn't there in the source material, it's not going to bear a serious treatment on screen. Ang Lee's treatment of The Hulk was less than successful exactly because he tried to imbue the material with a thematic weight that was never really there to start with. The approach was too serious. In the past few years nearly every single comic book Superhero we've ever heard of has been optioned for a big-screen treatment. Some of them have the goods to bear a serious approach - Iron Man comes to mind. Some of them don't. There's an Ant Man project in the works and it's being written as a comedy. Good call. Better to have the audience laughing with the movie than at it.

Griff - Maybe you're talking about this? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0131675/

Yeah. It was "camp" all right - and apparently had a production budget of about $29.99. Hard to be real "serious" when you've got a 40 year-old Burt Ward running around in his Robin costume, Jeff Altman as The Weather Wizard, and Charlie Callas as Sinestro. I've got this one on tape and it's a hoot.

But there was also this unaired JLA television pilot from 1997. Not nearly as campy, but hardly what I would call "serious".

That's The Atom on the left, The Flash in the middle, and Green Lantern to his side. The other two are "Fire" and "Ice". I'm guessing all the other legitimate possibilities as far as membership were tied up in their own development projects or were deemed too "expensive" super powers-wise.:p

Actually Fire & Ice were members of the JLA back in the ninties. Ice had something to do with Norse mythology if I recall, don't remember how Fire got her power but it does seem the flames were green and she was, I believe, Brazilian. That was right around the time I was getting out of comics so it's a bit hazy.

Yes! That's the one I was thinking of! I sort of thought that the "real" Batman & Robin and The Riddler were in it, but couldn't remember for sure. Thanks for finding that link! Brings back memories. I remember it being campy, as I said, but will still prolly try and procure a copy of this at some point - for the same reason I have copies of the Roger Corman Fantastic Four movie and the Star Wars Christmas Special. Call me crazy, but nostalgia still gets me, even for mostly craptacular stuff. :D

Kewel. I never knew about this one. Most interesting, indeed.

Again, I hope whatever the bring forward is done the right way and not made out to be all hokey and/or extra-cheesy. I've got no problems w/both serious and humorous aspects in a serious - NBC's Heroes pulls this off quite well, IMNSHO! - but hate to think of something that has such potential being done the wrong way.

If you want truly craptacular - check out Alyas Batman & Robin - the Filipino Musical Comedy.

If they're going to do a "Let's throw them all together" movie
as a marketing device, why not do a "Secret Wars" movie?
Put them all in there! ;)

Which studio?!?
Were not talkin' Marvel we're talkin' DC.
You're on the money 'bout egos and contracts tho'.
since warner bros owns DC (and has for the past 30 years) and since every DC charater movie or tv product during that time has been a WB production, i think which studio is a forgone conclusion.

dont look to see Supes, Batman, or WW as a member of the JL in this movie. That would dilute the independant franchises that WB has (or hopes for) for those charaters. The hero lineup will probably look a lot like the one in the bad 90's version, with flash and lantern leading the way, and then the second stringers.

Thanks but if you care to reread terryr's original post to which I replied you'll see I'm really not the one asking which studio.

That right there would drag the entire movie down into oblivion. :dude:

If done right and withthe right actors, this could be good.

My choices:

Superman- Brandon Routh
Batman- Christian Bale
Wonder Woman- Morena Baccarin
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan- ???? This is a tough one.
Flash- Ryan Reynolds
Martian Manhunter- Dwayne " The Rock" Johnson-- Maybe
Aquaman- Paul Walker
Hawkgirl- Jessica Biel

I disagree. I think that Brandon Routh did a very fine job as Clark Kent/Superman. It was like he was channeling Christopher Reeves, I thought - and yes, I realize that was the intent. I know he studied the Superman movies w/Reeves in the lead to achieve that specific effect.

I'm wondering if maybe the Martian shouldn't be CGI to manage his shape shifting and walking thru wals ability.
