And I thought an Opera about The Jerry Springer Show was bad! :freak:

Next thing ya know, someone will do a broadway musical based on the Phantom of the Opera . . . nah, it'll never be a success.

Actually, this Fly opera sounds like a great idea.

I have a certain affection for the original, but would argue that the Cronenberg version is the better movie.

matter of taste i suppose, however the original is more faithful to the source story.

It certainly is faithful to the Playboy short story which was it's source.

So he'll enter the transporter, sneak out the rear, run backstage to the other one and reappear, and the audience will cheer. It really works!

Lots of great short stories were published in magazines like Playboy back in the day. Hell, Steven King published in even worse rags!

I never got to see a copy of the original source story, though. Was it good?
I, myself, actually liked both versions of the film.

My feelings exactly.

Strange to say, the high intensity level of the Cronenberg version makes me more reluctant to re-watch it than the original which I've seen several times.

FLY IN A BOTTLE

If I could make molecules transmit
the first thing that I'd like to do
is to zap pantyhose, raw steak, or baboon
across this room right to you

If I had a box just for parts
that rot and go sloughing off
that box would be full of all kinds of stuff
including my jaw and some pus

But there never seems to be enough snacks
to puke upon and liquefy
once you find them

I've looked around enough to know
that you're the one I want to fuse
my genes with

If I hadn't drunk so much liquor
and checked inside that damned box
I would not right now have this
big old fly head and fly claw
but at least I can climb up the wall

But there never seems to be enough time
to catch your ears, lips and nose
when they fall off
I've looked around enough to know
I've lost my ____
now I'm depressed
where's that shotgun
