Has anyone ever seen any models of either the big "RV" like ark from ARK II (Saturday morning live action series fromthe 70's)..or of the "ark roamer" which was based on a vw called "the thing"?
I'd love to see some models, or scratch builds.

Not to get to technical here, but the roamer was based on the Brubaker Box, which was itself a modified Beetle.

Not that I'm all that knowledgable on the subject.
Or building one...
Ok...I'm confused. I had just listened to a "behind the scenes" documentary on the dvd's and Lou Scheimer said it was based on a car called the "thing". I looked at the link you posted and noticed this mid-way down the page:
The van we tested, dubbed the Roamer by Automecca, was based on a '74 Thing .
I'm not too knowledgable either...just passing on what the producer of the show said.

VW 2 wheel drive vehicles of the era all had pretty much the same drivetrain. And they were stout and relitively cheap. Bugs were everywhere, Things a bit harder to come by. They could have used a Thing, but kind of wasteful when bugs were so much cheaper.
I'd love to know what happened to them both.

Here you go:
ArkII and Roamer (http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/ark2/vehicles.html)
And this article says it was based on the bus.
Bug, bus, Thing...whatever, they should all work. My favorite kiy car of the day was the Bradley GT. Even though my great uncle had his own kit based on the chassis.

The ArkII got turned into the Seeker.
Wow. Wonder whatever happened to the full scale "seeker" after all the "star command" shows ended. Probably destroyed...too bad.
Same for the "Roamer"..wonder what happened to it.
Sure would be nice to see someone do a decent kit/buildup of one or the other of these.

I suppose you could take one of the Seeker kits and convert it into an Ark II.

Kind of small, but thats how I like them.

I have Cozmo's Ark II model. I recommend it highly. I am almost finished with mine.
