View Full Version : Never fear ... Underdog trailer chiangkaishecky 02-13-2007, 06:15 PM http://www.canmag.com/nw/6746-underdog-teaser-trailer Looks completely flawed from concept forward john guard 02-13-2007, 07:29 PM great....another talking dog movie. Wally Cox is Underdog! nobody else can do justice to him. terryr 02-13-2007, 07:41 PM After an accident in the mysterious lab of maniacal scientist Dr. Simon Barsinister (Peter Dinklage), an ordinary beagle unexpectedly finds himself with unimaginable powers and the ability to speak. Armed with a fetching superhero costume, Underdog (voiced by comedian Jason Lee) vows to protect the beleaguered citizens of Capitol City and, in particular, one beautiful spaniel named Polly Purebread (voiced by Academy AwardŽ nominee Amy Adams). When a sinister plot by Barsinister and his overgrown henchman Cad (Patrick Warburton) threatens to destroy Capitol City only Underdog can save the day. So how can Polly Purebred talk? I prefer the Robot Chicken version. Hey look a talking dog! Speak boy speak! John P 02-13-2007, 08:59 PM Oh, now they've gone too far! general pedestr 02-13-2007, 09:11 PM see how BORED we r?? PerfesserCoffee 02-14-2007, 09:39 AM I see that Disney is going for the religious family movie market sector with the "One Nation Under Dog" line. They're taking a charming, campy superhero cartoon from the early '60s and turning it into something akin to "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey." I don't get it. This is a cartoon that should have stayed a cartoon. The character of the dog in the movie doesn't sound anything like the original in tone nor quality. What a waste of pixels! :freak: PhilipMarlowe 02-14-2007, 11:40 AM I like Jason Lee, and Peter Dinklage, but, my oh my, that looks like a uber-stinker. Have the suits at Disney even seen a Underdog cartoon? Even Scrubs did a better Underdog parody/tribute. Prince of Styrene II 02-14-2007, 11:29 PM The movie was filmed in Providence, RI. Outside of those city flying shots (which just may have been for the trailer) I recognized the buildings with the cat burgler & the cop car. Because of work, I was able to visit the filming a couple of times & it was a fun experience! The Lemon Beagle was actually pretty cute in his costume. I was able to see that alley with the cop car being filmed, as well as a scene where a "bag lady" gets pushed off a building. The stuntman was dropped on wires & then bounced up, presumable when Underdog caught her as the crowd cheered on the ground. I also saw a scene being filmed in the RI capital building (being used as Capital City's city hall) where Simon uses super powered German Sheppards to take over the building. As for Sweet Polly talking, if I remember what the film's PR person told me correctly, Underdog & SP were the pets of a lab scientist when his experiment went boom, catching them in the wake. On a humorous note, a newbie reporter at the rival TV station in town saw all the special Capital City cop cars they had surrounding the capital for a scene when she drove by going to work, only a couple blocks away. According to one of their cameramen, he told me she ran into the newsroom all excited that she found some exciting breaking news with "dozens of cop cars surrounding the capital!" For me, it looks like a fun way to blow two hours with my daughter. She'll get a kick out of it. And I'll enjoy seeing some of the buildings in the city I work in on the big screen. :) John P 02-15-2007, 08:54 AM Nothing's ever filmed in Oakland, NJ. Prince of Styrene II 02-15-2007, 10:19 AM Nothing's ever filmed in Oakland, NJ. Don't you remember that other thread, John? Even Hollywood knows that you're on the "list" as a terrorist. I mean, really, can you blame them? F91 02-15-2007, 10:38 AM I seem to recall a certain "Howard the Duck" movie. Smelled like this one. Prince of Styrene II 02-15-2007, 11:18 AM Howard stunk 'cuz the costume was a glorified Halloween costume! And seriously... nookie with him & the girl? It was just bad, period! At least Underdog has a history & the classic superhero storyline. Not even seeing it, I'd take Underdog over Howard anyday! F91 02-15-2007, 02:26 PM I just watched the trailer....... hence, my comments Doesn't even LOOK like UD! Trekfreak 02-16-2007, 12:37 PM First off, I think kids will like Underdog but I don't think it will do well. Secondly, Howard the Duck was one of my mom's favorite movies. I thought it was cute at the time but now it's like how could George Lucas and Tim Robbins' careers survive after such a suckfest! PerfesserCoffee 02-16-2007, 03:39 PM Howard stunk ... nookie with him & the girl? Yeah! At least the old cartoon Underdog was never guilty nor even accused of cross-species bestiality. :p Prince of Styrene II 02-17-2007, 01:45 AM Yeah! At least the old cartoon Underdog was never guilty nor even accused of cross-species bestiality. :p Yea, Sweet Polly was quite the dog, wasn't she? John P 02-17-2007, 10:40 AM And you could call her the B-word and be technically accurate! Howard the Duck had some fun moments, but they totally missed the boat on Howard's character. Picture a drunk, middle-aged Robert Blake in mid-bender, and you'd come closer. And not that I have anything against the adorable miss Thompson, but comic book Beverly was more Ann-Margaret like. F91 02-17-2007, 12:25 PM " Missing the boat" is my point. Just think McHale's Navy,Dukes of Hazard, The Flinstone's, ad nauseum..... John P 02-17-2007, 05:52 PM McHale's Navy missed the boat while being ON one! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
