View Full Version : Eddie Murphy's Delirious
jage1966 02-07-2007, 01:44 AM I've been DYING for Delirious to come out on DVD, and today was its official release. I bought it and couldn't wait to get home from work to watch it.
Oh! My! God!
It ranks among the funniest hours of stand-up comedy I've ever seen. I was a junior in high school when it first aired on HBO, and I remember all my friends quoting lines. Watching it now, it's like listening to a great rock N roll album. Soooo many classic lines. Some I've seen used on Sportscenter, like, "MY SHOE!"
I know a lot of it isn't politically correct, but I still laughed my butt off! Some of my favorite lines:
As Mr T. - "Hey boy! You look mighty cute in those jeans."
"Now THAT'S A FIRE! Roll Charlie around, he'll be alright."
"THE ICE CREAM MAN IS COMING!!!"
As Elvis - "Lemonade...that cool refreshing drink."
"Gus..your wife's a BIGFOOT, Gus!"
I forgot he even did Star Trek material!
My God, sooo many. Do you have any favorites to add?

I'm gonna eat----all---of----myicecream....."splat"...
Norton, I've been watchin' you, and I know that you've been watchin' me, and I know that you know that I know that you've been watchin' me...
PhilipMarlowe 02-07-2007, 09:56 AM Mr Scott: Aye, it just might work!
Mr Spock: The sh!t worked last week, motherfracker.
Carson Dyle 02-07-2007, 10:59 AM I first saw Delirious when I was in college, and I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life, before or since.
I'm so glad this is finally being released on DVD. Young people who are only familiar with the post-80's (i.e. lame) Eddie Murphy are in for a real surprise.
"He'p Lord Jesus I'm fallin' down the stairs oh he'p me..."
Thump thump thump. Pause.
"My shoe!"
MartinHatfield 02-07-2007, 11:52 AM "My shoe!"
You must get it right....
"mashoe"
Carson Dyle 02-07-2007, 12:03 PM Okay, if we're splitting hairs we'll need to account for that perfectly timed break between syllables. As in...
"Ma shoe!"
God I can't wait to see this again. "Delirious" and The Larry Sanders Show" in the same month... DVD comedy saints be praised!
PhilipMarlowe 02-07-2007, 12:27 PM Larry Sanders is coming?
Hey Now!
I didn't think we'd be seeing anymore when nothing followed the first season, released years ago.
Carson Dyle 02-07-2007, 01:36 PM ^ Sony is releasing a four-disc "Best Of" collection on April 14 containg 23 episodes.
Sadly, due to extremely sticky music rights issue, there will probably never be a definitive, all-inclusive box set of this series. Even so, the upcoming collection promises some pretty cool extras. Amazon is currently offering it for around $32.00.
jage1966 02-07-2007, 02:16 PM That's great news about The Larry Sanders Show, one of my all-time faves. They did release Season One a few years back to lackluster reviews and low sales due to poor quality, or so I hear.

It looked and sounded pretty bad. And much as I loved the show, the first season wasn't that great, the show didn't start really getting good till the second season.
I hope the one where Artie has to recover Hank's sex tape of him with two hookers dressed as Ginger and Maryanne makes the "greatest" cut.
