Kris Pisarcik 02-09-2007, 07:52 PM I just purchased your bandit charger body and planning to mount it on an rc10L4, which I'm going to be racing on 165+- grey tite mesh(loop) indoor/outdoor flat carpet oval. Any mounting tips would be great I'm just getting back into rc racing, took a break to do some dirt latemodel racing. From what I read in here where you mount the body affects the cars handling, as of now car turns too well with old body (protoform dodge intrepid). I haven't seen or heard about these bodies around here (PA), but they do have a great look to them. Thanks, Kris BEACH 02-11-2007, 06:16 PM UT O.........Looks like we will see Phil Marajabella on some Bandit stuff soooooon. LOL jhseckinger 04-07-2007, 01:31 AM thanks kevin....got message speedxl 04-12-2007, 01:38 PM Okay guys here we go I figured that there was nothing being discussed here so I would start up a subject here. I see a lot of foot traffic on these forums about chassis, motor, and batteries. Nothing on areodynamics or handling from tunning with the body. Lets get this going here . Most of you that are new to racing even veterins may not know the dynamics of a car in a corner and straightaway is affected by the mounting position of the body, and wing. Any one have anyquestions? Lets get em going fells! Team Bandit is here to help you. Hector Garcia. charger01 04-12-2007, 01:51 PM Okay, how should I mount my body for a small paperclip track? speedxl 04-12-2007, 08:09 PM I for one dont have a method other then mounting the body with the front wheels aligned within the fender well markings, I sometimes offset the body to the right so there is over hang on the right side of the car. Thus it will help the car turn in harder and also allow a cushion when shoving inside someone making a pass mid corner (little nerf action). How do you mount your bodies? Also 10th scale or 12th scale? kevina250 04-12-2007, 10:36 PM Great idea Hector. I run only nitro powered cars, so for electric I think body mounting is differant than nitro cars. The nitro cars have so much rear weight we run the bodies a little differant on our cars. I still like to be able to move the body forward or back if possible with the engine head sticking out. Never thought of offsetting the front though. speedxl 04-13-2007, 01:49 PM Kevin that cylinder head sticking out is great for cooling, plus moving the body forward help get down force over the front wheel and off the rear. Thats a classis way of tunning with the body. People would be surprized with how much you can achieve with even moving the body just an 1/8th of an inch. Some cars like the Customworks Aggressor have that adjustment included. Off setting the car upfront was perfect for me because I was able to take weight off the front corner (less drag in the corner) and use the down force to help turn in at speed. :dude: Hey Kevin what car do you run? kevina250 04-13-2007, 02:46 PM Bandit Nitro Gunslinger II. I have always run the Chevy center on the car. Going to try the Ford next and move it forward. Also, Catus juice is great for my diff. Used the purple stuff and it is still free after Daytona. tightline31408 04-13-2007, 02:48 PM good idea hector! well 4 me,I like my body mount a little forward( 1/4) of the noise. it helps me turn in a lot and coming off the corner better. I have a ( MOTOR ) Q 4 you guys. I just do not get it! I run a 110 runline on a carpet trk. AMPs and RPM in ( monster pro, co27, epic x and ect.) some guys amps are at 6.5 and other 8.0 or 9.5. and thats just in the monster pro motor only. now with the new co27 and the epic x I am really lost. my car is set up the same as the fast guys at my track. they are turning 3.3 and 3.4s lap time and me and a couple of others are turning 3.6 and 3.7s. the fast guys spurs are 120, the tires size start at 2.15. The motors are kicking my butt. I talk to other threads like : ( MOTOR AMP DRAW) I still did not get it. guys are trying to get me to go brushless. I will not Quit until I figure out how this works ( amps and rpm ). just trying to fine the sweet spot on the motor. IF some one can help me please !!! someone break it down to a dummie like me. I been fighting this for some time some guys will tell u the truth and others will shoot u lot of B#$L. guys are tell me that putting to much in to it. but when u are like me, u cant help it when you are really try to learn how this works. THe help would be very appreciated. Echeconnee 04-13-2007, 03:59 PM Rock, I have never shot you any bull so listen, save your money and get the brushless. All of your head aches will go away and you won't have to keep thinking it's the motor. Keep working on the chassis and you will get there! Ask Donnie what he is running, when he tells you, try it. If you are still slow, get back in the chassis. speedxl 04-13-2007, 04:02 PM good idea hector! well 4 me,I like my body mount a little forward( 1/4) of the noise. it helps me turn in a lot and coming off the corner better. THe help would be very appreciated. Well if your saying that the cars are set up close or the same then lets leave this out for a sec. Generally motors all dont perform the same, certain motors draw more amps then others aswell as rpms. Now first thing are you tuning the motors yourself or having someone else? A good stock motor will range from 9 to 12.5 amps with E brushes using purple and red trinity motor springs. Usually the higher amp draw motors turn less rpms, and low amp draw usually have more rpm's, but also listen to the spool up time( kinda tells you if the motor has torque down low) short spool up is a pretty good indicator its a torque monster longer a screemer! Also I never use a Dyno( I am old school and use the tracK) thru the years I have developed a way to check for gearing. Find a base line of what everyone is using. Run the car and see if the brushes have changed color. If your to high it will discolor, if too low the same. Go up in a range of 4 or 5 teeth and see. Check color again with lapp times and feel. ' If your up 5 teeth and it feels like a dog go down in the other direction. If the car pulls like crazy out of the corner and halfway down the straightaway if feels like the nose dropped your too high. If you are still accelerating approaching the corner your too low. If your at top speed 3/4 of the way with still minimal increase your there, also you should be able to hold a finger on the motor for at least 5 seconds after your race. Also check and see how your driving the track you may have a driving style that doesnt help the car free up because you driving to tight loosing up a little change your driving line you may be surprized what turning in a little later or earlier can do. P.m your phone # I'll explain a little more in detail about the amp vs rpm deal. Its not as hard as you would think. Plus a little talk over the phone is easier then typing! Hector. speedxl 04-13-2007, 04:18 PM Bandit Nitro Gunslinger II. I have always run the Chevy center on the car. Going to try the Ford next and move it forward. Also, Catus juice is great for my diff. Used the purple stuff and it is still free after Daytona. Moving it forward will surely help with steering!! Try putting a little rake in the body first sometime its a little more subtle and easier to do, but you will need to lower the wing out of the air stream. Doing this will help steering while keeping the car stabil at speed. ;) Also How you guys doing up there? Getting ready for the Nat's? tightline31408 04-13-2007, 08:14 PM hey hector !
