I am trying to get my Onan generator started but as soon as you let go of the start switch it dies. The engine doesnt realy run, it just fires one time.I have a troubleshooting guide and it looks like I might have either a voltage problem,an oil presure problem or a control pc problem. Can someone tell me how to check these items. It is in a 1986 motor home. Thank you.

Try checking for spark ,gas and compression first.
Oil level maybe low to activate a no start switch.

It should be right off the oil sump,as a oil press gauge would be.
If this is activated sensing low oil the spark is shut off.
Check for spark first.
