i just saw the Ghost Rider trailer.............
everything coming out of Nicholas Cages mouth is some kind of "witty" "cute" remark...........
this makes me think that the film is not going to be that great.

Three words: Mark Steven Johnson. If he could screw up so badly with such a strong character as Daredevil, he damned sure ain't gonna' make a silk purse out of a sow's ear with Ghost Rider. This movie is going to stink badly for anyone other than your rabid fanboy.

I hope I'm wrong, but I see this one doing maybe 3-4 weeks at the cineplex, then the fast track to the DVD shelves before July 4th.

Currently at 27% on the Tomatometer. Higher than I would have expected. But it's just the first day.

I read on some site that it takes 2 hours to put on his hairpiece! You could make him into a klingon in that time.

Two hours?!? Haven't they heard of hot glue?
Edit 02/17/07: Well, I saw it today. Not impressed. Every "comic-book film" cliché ever created by Hollywood. Cage phones in a typical Nicolas Cage performance. Eva Mendes is easy on the eyes but, not only can't she act, but there's no chemistry between her and Cage; not good for two actors playing love interests. Donal Logue as the manager/partner/best friend is wasted in a thankless role. Peter Fonda is wasted as well, doing a bad Clint Eastwood impersonation throughout the film. Sam Elliot, as usual, turns in the only truly decent performance in the film.
The film's biggest problem is the secondary villain, played by Wes Bentley who is clearly out of his element in this film. He and his "henchmen" provide what are quite possibly the least-threatening villains in film history.
Surprisingly, I thought the special effects shots worked quite well--for the most part. The segments with Ghost Rider were the best in the film, and only occasionally was the CGI obvious to the point of being distracting and unbelievable.
Overall, I'd describe it as one of the longest video game ads I've ever seen. Unless you really have to see this film, wait for DVD/Cable.
