Anyone have and good links or information on properly timing a mod motor for best performance and longevity?
I am getting into running mods and want to make sure I do not fry any motors or have tehm setup incorrectly.
I am mainly running offroad truck and 4wd and maybe some buggy.
thanks

"Best performance" and "Longevity" are conflicting objectives.
I run more timing on higher winds than lower winds, for example 20-24 degrees on a 13 turn motor and only around 12-15 on an 8 turn motor. I am running this in a sprinter and Mod truck on a big dirt oval. These settings are probably conservative compared to what others may use.
Off-road, I run less timing and milder winds.

You did not mention what motor you had in mind.
The motor design and wind will be important to get input that applies to you.
For most MOD motors... 12 degrees is a good starting point. If you have not bought one yet... consider getting a brushless. Less maintenance and great consistent power for someone just getting started.
