Stopped up there today met John let him know the dirt oval drivers will support him and make it worth the effort. Also mentioned a 3 track series liked Darrell mentioned it may be possible for a small series this year to test the water and and one kickin series next winter

Yeah.. good thinking Darell. How cool would 20 - 25 SK's be at a short track doing 85-90 laps in 4 minutes. I get all tingly thinking about it! Especially since there is room for 20-25 pits now.

Im getting all tingley over this. I feel like taking the b3 and b4 off the shelf and start working on them right now. Its not like I dont have any time or anything. The SK series would be a welcome thing to all tracks I would hope. I couldnt wait to run 90 fast laps in a 6 car sk main at xtreme. there would have to be gentlemen out there or there would be lots of carnage.

"Gentlemen"??? Does that mean we have to apologize to each other BEFORE we wreck each other during the race?

john is TOTALLY open to any and all suggestions that you'se "oval" guys have i/c/w configuring the dirt oval as well as race times, etc. john's committed to making racers happy. his fully equiped shop won't hurt either..........he is also enlarging the ozite track. john is there most sats/sundays working inside to get the place ship shape. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW THE PLACE LOOKS.....all new pit spaces, too(all with seperate power. without all the clutter, the place looks 10x larger, as well....bigger and better things for xtreme.....a track with lots of nostalga. for sure, alex and i will be there sunday's to play in the dirt...................................

I am all for an oval in the previous configuration. I mean, incorporate it in the off-road layout, so all you have to do is relocate some pipe barriers to run oval. But the surface has to be prepped like a dirt oval, not like a loose dirt off-road. If there is room for a dedicated oval, that's awesome- then you could bank the corners without fear of the off-road racing deteriorating the layout. Any layout that is real big becomes less of a driving/setup track, and becomes a 4-minute dyno pull.

I like the size of the oval track last year, dont think we need it much bigger??

darrel
01-23-2007, 05:39 PM
Im on board with that comment nick. I wonder if it still might be possible to put the oval next to the front door where it was dug out. I dont know if john can get the ok to use that spot from the town or not. Or mabe in his thought process make that more parking and increase the size of the main track. Whatever happens its nice to have all this talk about it.

I know that this is a DIRT OVAL forum, but when I spoke with John, he was hoping to start racing indoors mid-February. That could mean 2 1/2 or 3 months of indoor racing, right here in New Milford. I am sure he needs to get some racing going asap. What about indoor carper oval? I'm ready to roll with SK Mods and 1/12th scale oval right now. What is everyone else thinking? Xtreme needs the input.

for me I dought it, a track that size(indoor) only invites havoc (IMO). If it changed as he said and is bigger, that might be another story. Dirt Oval for sure!!!
Just cleaned the DO car, ready for action!!!

Maddness is a fairly large track and I seem to remember getting hit a few times in one race. Anyway I will for sure go with the SK at Xtreme its not any bigger than a legend and we managed to run 5 and 6 at a time without much carnage. Oh the memories are comming back, yes I can see the 150 and 300 lap races in my head now. Dont get scared I know you all like 4min. races I wont tell anybody. shhhhhhhhh!!!!!

john's usually at xtreme on sats/sundays getting the place in order. he appreciates it when racers drop by to discuss the shop and possibilities. but, before making the trip, you can call his mahopac LHS to make double sure that he's there....(jessica)845-621-0044.

Maybe this Sunday I'll stop by with my dirt oval car, so he can look at it and see just what we were doing with B4's & Losi's. Probably bring my SK also. I know John is very familiar with the EDM class, he used to race at A&D's.

Omni85, On the old track the record was something like 89 laps in 5 minutes. Very comparable.

Indoor can't wait to see it. Dirt oval smooth, flat or banked, Foams only. If it is not on the offroad. BSR and Coopers make tires for all vehicle.

After meeting john and has girfriend last sunday I am completely satsisfied that Xtreme is in good an capable hands. they are doing a fantastic job on the inside of the place. the pit spaces are all the same size and with storage to spare. the parts counter area is all the way in back so there will be more room for racing inside. I cant wait to resume racing at the old home track.

I'll have to stop in the next time I'm on my way to Danbury. Being it's the closest Track to house, I may need to get a dirt oval car or offroader again.

I stopped by today to see John. Things are lookin' good. Everything is painted. Pits look good. Darrel, Mitch and I will be going there this Satuday to run some shakedown laps on the oval to help John figure out the new computer / scoring system and the track layout. We will be running 1/12 scale and SK's, maybe 1/10th pan car.

This is a cut & paste from Xtrems's post on Nick's Sim-World:

"xtreme will be open for business and indoor carpet racing this coming saturday 3/3 @ 12noon. john will be at xtreme from 12 noon until closing...which will probably be late after the racing. this will be a "run-what-you-brung" evening. types of racing will will be discussed and layed out."

Address is 469 Danbury Road, New Milford, CT. 06776

* From Mass, follow Rt. 84 West to exit #7 (Rt. 7 North)
* This puts you on a short expressway. At the end of the expressway, go right at the light onto Rt. 7 North. You will be in Brookfield at this point.
*Follow Rt. 7 North into New Milford, After you pass Candlewood Lake Road South on your left, start looking for the Marathon Restaurant on your right. Xterme is behind the restaurant. Try to park in back.

I'd probably be able to get my permission slip signed more often if I was only going to race in NM. LOL. Whats going on over there?

Lawman, directions are as follows:

- Go get your crap out of storage and dust off.
- Impress upon one road trip to my house to pick a magazine guy up.
- Throw car during practice like your man Pat!

Erich,

Here's whats going on. Last Saturday several guys showed up with SK's, Legends, 1/12 oval, X-Rays & others. Ran for a few hours to help John determine a good layout for oval / road course, and to see what classes might be best. John is going to adjust the outside walls a little bit, and add inside walls for the oval to keep cars off the columns. Later on, he will widen the front straight 18" or 2' which will help a lot.
