They told us last year they would do it again. I don't believe we've made arrangements this year yet, but I can't see why not.

the oval classes im guessing is for pan cars right?? if so what are your rules batteries motors body

ToddFalkowski
01-21-2007, 12:42 PM
Wade, the owners will be better suited to answer, but yes, the classes are for pan car. Four cell & six cell stock would be normal ROAR rules, and the brushless, as it sits now, will follow the BRL rules. What are you running now?

Todd is correct, pan cars, std. roar rules for 4 and 6 cell. Were modifying slightly... the brl rules for the 4300. I'm going to try and make this as SIMPLE as possibe.

Were running the BRL 4300 rules EXCEPT:
We will allow the 5800 motor with the Novak SS or SS+ speed control ONLY!

That means...4300 motor with any sensored ESC available OR
5800 motor with Novak SS or SS+ ESC. After attending pete's race, these 2 combinations ran in the same races and we believe they are very similar in performance.

This is being done so a few of the local guys that invested in the 5800/SS combo can take part in the event and not be left out.

ToddFalkowski
01-21-2007, 08:21 PM
To further Aaron's point, the A-Main was three 5800's, and three 4300's. In the "hot laps" qualifying they did, two of the four (myself and Derek Lanway) seeded into the "fast heat" were 4300's as well. I personally didn't feel a disadvantage with the 4300 motor... (My problem was spelled J-A-C-O)

Just thought you guys thinking about cavalcade, that havn't seen our track. Melqui (other owner) and his company AVM studio created the linked video.
http://www.michianarc.com/vdo/mrcr.wmv

While there isn't any oval coverage on this video, (we don't have any at the moment) it'll give you an idea of what onroad/offroad classes we offer as well as what our facility looks like.

Enjoy.

i run a class called busch with a break out time of 4.25 but i run 4 cells stock motor so i will probably bee there my son is 8 he races sportsman truckwith break out of 4.99 but he runs ovalso i dont know how he would do with jumps probably break stuff lol thanks for your info

ToddFalkowski

Hey Wade... Your Busch car should be fine for the four-cell stock class. Basically a stock motor (like a Monster, CO27, etc.) with four-cells (4200 mAh limit), any tire, and any ROAR-approved body (such as Protoform's Monte Carlo, Intrepid, Charger, Windtunnel's, older BoLinks, McAllister's, etc.)
As for your son, if his truck is an off-road based truck, he should be fine. (I've tried jumping my pan car, the results are less than favorable) My son is ten, and has raced only pan-car oval- just built him a stadium truck, he's fine at it.

Hope this helps, and hope to see you there. It's one of the more fun events you'll attend. And hey, you get a car show to boot!

Hi Wade,
Glad you'll be taking part.
We'll start practice at 9:00am(ish) on both days. For the past few years, we (racers and as far as I know, you guys with the show cars) need to go to gate 8 to enter the show. We will have the computer down there till about 10:30AM for signups/registration.

We should have more information by the time our trophy race comes around on the 25th of Feb. we also have a warmup for that race on the 11th. You can check-out the followng thread for that information:

also is their much interrest in mod touring car class
thinking about sending my entry's in

18th scale.
Most guys are wanting to run jumps with there 18th stuff. We havn't had a "tc" 18th scale in a couple months now. I don't have a problem with Lipo's in the 18TH SCALE ONLY. No motor limit. the 18th scale class for while at our club races were huge, but as of the past couple 2-3 weeks, has kinda fisseled out. Most have "upgraded" to the 10th scale trucks, but there are still some that show up every now and then.

Mod TC. For a brief few weeks we had about 4 guys running mod TC, but it seemed to not get enough interest. Those that were running the MOD TC have opted to run 12th stock now. Not to say that that won't change, just what the trend has been at our club races.

As of right now, (since there have not been a lot of pre-entries) we are kinda gauging classes by our "club" races.

The "BIG" classes locally at our track are:

Road Course and Offroad
Stadium truck stock (Novice and advanced - trophies for both) - Offroad
TC foam Stock (Novice and advanced - Trophies for both) - Road Course
12th scale stock. (trophies) - Road Course
on our club nights, there are no less then 12 of any one of them.

Oval
4-cell Stock. Nascar bodies and/or Latemodel bodies may be ran depending on ##'s - Trophies
4-cell 4300 (yes, we are allowing the 5800/super sport esc combo) - Trophies
6-cell stock - Trophies
6-cell Sprint cars open modifed, no lipo's) - Trophies

Our form does have TC modifed listed on it, but it was created when there were 4 guys running it at our club nights. The class didn't really take off for some reason, and those guys have now taken up 12th stock. (which there are now at least 9 every race night)

I would suggest signing up for TC stock (yes, you can use the 13.5 novak) and the 18th class. If you talk to other people from other tracks, and there is an interest in the modified class, that's cool, but be prepaired to be running stock in case there are not enough mod entries.

I want to be clear on this next point. ANYBODY that signes up for a class that is not listed on our sheet (or a class that doesn't get the numbers to run,... TC mod for example) runs the risk of the class not running. We WILL however, refund your money if you signup for a particular class, and it does not run.
If the class does run, and there were not enough trophies becuase of lack of pre-entries, you will not recieve a refund, but hope you had a good time anyway. I think we've priced this race very cheap for a large event. Your race fees include (2) tickets into the show (each ticket includes a Saturday and Sunday stub) so you can bring a friend or spouse.

If there is ANYTHING I can do to get more people to send in their pre-entries, I'll do my best to do that. I can answer questions like this better if I have an idea of what's coming. We were in ft. wayne this past weekend running at Summit, seems as there will be some 12th scalers coming from that direction, so I think that will be a large class this year as well.

In addition, we've been told by several people that they are coming and are looking forward to it. A LOT of them have said they have ran, or watched it in years past, but didn't know it was being done again (racing at cavalcade) I've got really high hopes for a good crowd this year. One of the delimas that has come up is the amount of different classes/number of heats. It may be that we will only run 2 heats and a main on Saturday instead of 3heats/main. (Sunday is already only 2 heats and a main) The reason is the time we are allowed to run at ND that day. (same with sunday)
We need to be out of the building by no later then about 10:00pm on Saturday. Sunday, the racing needs to be done by 5:00pm, so cars in the show can get through where our track is. That's our limit (given to us by Notre Dame/Cavalcade officials). That's 10 hours to run our program given that we start at noon (5 hours on sunday).
The 2 heats isn't such a bad thing, last year, I ran so many classes, I didn't get a chance to check-out the show. Just something to keep in mind.
At approximately the same time the heats are posted, we will post a schedule so you'll know approximately what time your heat will run. this is done for 2 reasons. there are breaks between each round, those breaks may be shortend or lengthend based on weather or not were running behind/ahead or right on time (on time..yeah, that'll happen). It also allows people to go out and check out the car show and know approx what time to be back to run their race.

This is exactly why we really need pre-entries so we can plan how many to count on, and what classes to provide trophies for. Based on the amount of "talked about" interest this year, it wouldn't suprise me if next year we have to go to pre-entries only so we don't overload our time allowed. Most roar races (no, this is not a roar sponsored event, just fyi) only allow 6 classes and limit the amount of particpants. Were doing our best to allow as many as possible, so everybody can enjoy this event. Also, we will have a limited amount of trophies available to us, so that means the "standard" classes will get trophies for sure, after that, it just depends on what's left, and the amount of "extra" classes.

Sorry, Conde, didn't mean to lay that on as an answer to your question. :-) but everybody needs this information.

As far as setting up in the afternoon, I'll have to let you know. we usually take a small "crew" to help us get the track setup and all, but we've got that filled already. In the past, they have asked us not to bring a load of people for setup. I'll find out what we can do.

Who is up for it???

Kris, at this time were not offering a legends class in the cavalcade. While I wish we could offer every class, and as many classes as possible, we're only given a certain amount of of time and trophies. Please check-out the form for what's being offered this year.

This WILL be a great event, we just have to limit the type of classes. I think most people would rather see more of a particular class (more competition) then a bunch of small classes anyway. We've tried to pick the most popular classes so we can get the most participation as possible.

Please feel free to ask questions about this, if there are any.

We havn't done it in a while. Were working on something else to do before the mains, I don't wanna let it out as of right now, cause I'm still not sure it'll be possible. some of the things we've done in the past is a "high jump" using a "bar".

Well, Finished with our trophy race, Thanks to all who attended. It was a great turn-out for our 1st oval trophy race. It's now time to start promotion on the Cavalcade of Wheels race. LOTS of people have talked about coming to this race. I would HIGHLY reccommend sending in pre-registration forms/money. Some have already started to come in. Normally with our club race, we would say if 4 show up, we'll run them. This will NOT be the case with the Cavalcade of Wheels. We are limited on the time in the building, so running over time is NOT an option. Don't miss out on this great event!

Sponsors for this event SO FAR are:
TQ cells
Promatch Racing
Horizon Hobby

Tentitive sponsors at this time are:
TM Racing

Count me in for both days in 4300. Just don't put me in the same heat as ECRASH. I don't want to be involved in the "Spectacular Crashes" that entertain the crowd.

What is the practice and race format going to be like for switch from RC and oval?

acyrier
03-01-2007, 05:01 PM
The change over from one to the other only takes a few minutes. we'll have to just kinda play that by ear depending on the numbers. I would be able to tell you more IF I HAD MORE PRE-ENTRIES... :-) hint hint. We try to divide up the time equally. In general, there will be more practice time on Saturday then Sunday. Sunday we have to get things going as soon as possible as there is less time in the day to run the races.
