Rob how much longer are the new shafts? I have a set of old HPI shocks and just bought a new set and the new one is about 1/8 longer. Didn't realize it till I put it on the car.
Thanks,

The stock shock shaft that comes with an HPI is 31mm. The 37mm will give you the length to move your center shock mount forward and back with out standoffs or extentions in Most cases. In most cases the RPM long ball end will do the trick or shorter.

Windtunnel Strut Front end is very close to being available. Just a couple of things need to be finished up and it will be shipping. Perfect choice with Associated stuff being very hard to get or find and with associated being moved over seas it will be even harder in the future it would appear. In the long run the Windtunnel Front end will be a better option because it is adjustable in ways the associate is not and WT aftermarket items will be made as well to make it better and easier.

Here are some shots of a built front end.

Right front pic is pretty standard built with an inline axle and upper a arm in the top hole of the caster block

Left front has been played with a bit. Caster block has been raised to take camber gain out to keep a full foot print on the left front tire. As you can see the caster block has been simply turned around to lengthen the a arm and slow the rate of gain. If you look at the view from the top you will see that the left front has also been built with an offset axle to shorten the left side wheel base.

Reminds me of the TRC frontend.

MURDOCKRC

Here are those pics of the shock shaft.

Front end was at one time the TRC. It has been changed some and materials improved a bunch with more to come. I finally got around to racing one on my car in competition today and I forgot how much I loved this thing myself. The car was above and beyond better than it had been all year as far as how the front end worked, how the car tracked and the feel of the car was so much better than the associated. I was very pleased with day one in race cituations with it. I have no doubt that I can improve on what I did with it today.

Looking for the first shipment of LRP Sphere Competition 2007 versions to be in the first of the week. New updated hardware and software. New braking features & The "boost" function has also been installed like in the Q-2 and prior speed controls. Give a little kick off the line. More profiles as well that in looking at the instructions this evening look good for giving us more options for throttle control, brake control and etc. Ill have one in testing this weekend.

Hey Rob, How'd that new speedo work out? Was thinking of getting one for my taxi cab.

MURDOCKRC
01-21-2007, 11:48 AM
Nothing worked out very well Saturday Mike. Burned a 4300 and took speed control with it, burn another motor, then lost a whole car and novak speed control, personal transponder, rx and battery. Im an inch from retirement with this bl stuff. And Im one of the fortunate ones that hasnt had this trouble until yesterday. Now someone tell me where BL is better.

WOW that sucks!!!! Sorry I didnt make it out, had to get a tire fixed on her car. 12th scale sounding better??

MURDOCKRC
01-21-2007, 01:12 PM
Just part of it I guess. Im lucky that this is a first for burn ups with BL equipment. Hopefully the technology will improve sooner than later and none of us will have this happen.

The car and other stuff was just misfortune of a wreck in front of me. The last three weeks have been hard though. In the lead all three weeks and something happens. Wow

Racing has been good every week. This had to be the most destructive I have seen in a while. Im not sure what happened in front of me there. I think it was Andrew and someone else who had tangled and I had no where to go, then I got piled drived at full throttle by someone as well. Thats racin. Glad to see you and Andrew make the trip up. Hope to see you again soon

Ran for the second big 2 day race ( Silva Concepts) took TQ in Sportsman Mod and after a bad main that saw me off and on the track still came back and took 5th. Wow the Murdock tires just keep gettting better. Track went to paragon now and we have even more traction. 4 Full days on the same pink rears and they still look great. Tires at about 2.17 and fast can't wait for more carpet action. The new side springs worked great and looked killer. Big thanks to KOZ for setting the car up and building it!!! I have never driven a car this good. Rob's stuff is top notch!!!!! The body was a HDX. Thanks Rob for all the great parts. Service and selection he's got it all.

Rob,
So your 2007 version Sphere Comp burned up? Do you think it was the speedo or the motor? I just got mine in the mail today and was trying to figure out if it was worth the trouble or if I should just sell it cheap.

Later
Jay

MURDOCKRC

I cant say for sure what caused what. In 100% of the cases that I have seen or know of the Novak motor was burned up as well. I have seen one case where the Novak 13.5 motor burned and a sphere comp did not. I have not had any trouble in the past with my sphere's personally. Or Novak motors for the matter.

The thing that is strange is that I cant see the esc burning and taking the motor with it.........but, I can see the motor burning up and then taking the speed control. The motor that burned was the same motor that had shut down the week before though. At this time I dont think it is the speed control though. But we will see.

So, I guess where that leaves us is here. Put it in, it is under warranty......what will it hurt.

I have gray banded stuff available for spec. The new line is getting closer to production though. Getting everything together but this time of year is tough. all the big races are coming up and time is short. Not to mention I have a few fires lit with several projects. Give me call though and Ill let you know what is available.

Nothing hurt, just time lost, 1 month+ turn around for replacement. So I guess if you have 5-6 to cycle through while the others are getting replaced, you can still race every weekend.

Thanks for the reply

Good things come to those who wait:thumbsup: I planned on releasing it by now but had a couple of small delays of my choosing to make things better. And to get inventory up and kits ready so that when it is released there will be no shortage. It will be available in large amounts once ready though. All is on track and looking great.

A cot body has absolutlely no use in R/C. The cot body with the wing on it is for cars running nose to tail around a track and it allows air to stay on nose of the car behind. Its intent is to stop what is called "aero push" that the nextell guys complain about. We dont run constant nose to tail in this manner. So No there are no plans of a Windtunnel COT type body simply because there is no use for it. My goal will to continue to build performance bodys. Hope that answers your questionRob @ Windtunnel Racing Products

Thanks Rob for your call & interest for what I wanted. If more dealers would take their time to do what you did by calling me to see what I wanted, this hobby would be a better place to play in. Now if only I can convince my wife that the package that will arrive at my door is her Valentine's Day present.
