View Full Version : spektrum vs JR
feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:00 PM ok so I have heard good thing about both the jr radio and the spektrum radio im kinda liking the spektrum better just because you dont have to worry about cristals or ajusting the sinthisized so what do you guys think
HookupsXXX4 01-03-2007, 11:17 PM Both I think are great.
Having my JR far as long as I have and not had a problem with any for there stuff, I would say JR. I have heard and seen issues with the Spektrum. I am not knocking the Spektrum, I think it is great system.
With alot of people going to Spektrum, that is less times I would have to change channels. By the way, changing a channel takes 3 seconds.
Hope this helps,
Jerry
feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:24 PM ok just if i get a jr im gona get the xs3 and if i get a spektrum im gona get the 3.0
HookupsXXX4 01-03-2007, 11:26 PM Yeah, if ya get the JR, get the XS3.
Jerry
feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:32 PM what does everyone else think?
nondriver 01-03-2007, 11:35 PM buy the jr z-1 you can switch it to spektrum later best of both worlds
feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:37 PM do you have a link to it
rctazmanmc 01-03-2007, 11:38 PM Spektrum 3.0 just like the JR in features and a lot cheaper than the Z-1.
Invest wisely the first time.
Only problem with spektrum is running 4 cell on-road or high draw mod motors - get a capacitor from spektrum or novak and all is good. That is what I have done.
If you run stock 6 cell you should not have any problems.

feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:39 PM I run a revo
feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:42 PM i like the spektrum cuz u just turn it on and go u dont have to mess with anything but people keep telling me that the spektrum dosent have as many adjustments as the JR is this true?
rctazmanmc 01-03-2007, 11:44 PM My buddy just got one and it has all the features that the JR has. Basically the same but spektrum technology.
Plus for about $200 on e-bay you can get the radio, 2 servos and 2 recievers which in my eye is a kick ass deal.

feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:46 PM so u think that the new spectrum is really that much better than the older one
nondriver 01-03-2007, 11:51 PM with the new spektrum controler can you turn the servo speed up or down the first version you can not change the servo speed
feaga89k 01-03-2007, 11:56 PM i think u can with the new one
feaga89k 01-04-2007, 12:01 AM yes u can adjust the servo speed with the new one
feaga89k 01-04-2007, 01:00 AM well chop you have to be smarter than the controller
nitrojeff 01-04-2007, 08:24 AM I ran the JR for a couple years with no trouble. I switched to spectrum, and like they said, I needed capacitors on my carpet cars. I ended up with the M11 with a spectrum module and it's GREAT! Buy the best radio you can't afford, Z1, M11, 3pk
Sensor, React.........
badassrevo 01-04-2007, 10:16 AM I like my Futaba 3PK with spektrum, but for the money and running nitro I would buy the new Spektrum. You can't go wrong with the Spektrum. I won many races with my Revo and my Spektrum radio. That was the first thing that I upgraded on my Revo and I ran the Spektrum for two years with no problems at all.
Heatseeker 01-04-2007, 02:30 PM I have both the Spektrum and JR XS3 and can't complain about either one. I miss the the 6 vehicle memory on the Spektrum though.
feaga89k 01-04-2007, 04:36 PM well I only have 3 cars so thats fin with me I dont need a 20 car memory lol

True, that can happen. It also doesn't have a low voltage failsafe, some say it does. I had a servo go WOT when the charge went very low. That may have been a Hitec servo issue not sure, Hitec didn't have an answer. Fail safe worked fine when you turned the radio off however, no signal. I will check my other servos under low voltage conditions and see if the same thing happens. This only happened in my CRT not in my buggy. Steering servo would go to the nuetral position so it is puzzling.

I run a fail safe and a throtle return spring just in case lol
Heatseeker 01-05-2007, 12:49 AM I run a fail safe and a throtle return spring just in case lol
I tested using a secondary failsafe and it will work with the Spektrum. I thought it might interfere with it somehow.
feaga89k 01-05-2007, 12:56 AM so i should be good with the throtle return sprint and fail safe
Heatseeker 01-05-2007, 12:58 AM so i should be good with the throtle return sprint and fail safe
For sure.
feaga89k 01-05-2007, 01:45 AM ok just making sure
badassrevo 01-05-2007, 06:25 AM Like I said before I ran my Spektrum DX3 in my Revo with the stock Traxxas 1100mah battery and a JRz9000t and a JRz9000s and a personal transponder for 2 years with no problems at all.
I set the fail safe position to neutral and relyed on the throtle return spring but I never had to use that feature.
feaga89k 01-05-2007, 05:09 PM ok sounds good know i just have to talk my dad into helping me get one lol
