smojoe 07-24-2002, 02:57 PM good, because iv allready started sending it. once again, its a big pic, but at least it looks cool...
JB_The_Evader 07-24-2002, 03:03 PM ok. Thanks! As for the e-maxx, How's this for a paintjob: forest/dark green fading into black. It seems simple, and I might try flames. I want my e-maxx to be more of climber, so this seemed ok. I don't need any superdetailed, sleek looking design. My evader, however....
smojoe 07-24-2002, 03:22 PM did you get the pic? if so, thats my onroad body. i use that with my p-94... that would look awsome on an e-maxx, but what type of shell would you use? i was thinking the jeep body by proline would look good as a climber. also, looking at the ESC you have, thats pretty nice. only bad part it you dont have reverse (hehehehehe)
JB_The_Evader 07-24-2002, 03:25 PM i'm downloading the picture now. I am thinking of the pro-line militia hummer, the jeep, or a clear traxxas stock body. I think it looks pretty nice. I think that of the three. The jeep or the hummer would look the best. The jeep would probably be better than the hummer. Though I'm a big hummer fan, I don't think it looks that good in RC form.
smojoe 07-24-2002, 03:38 PM i would get the jeep. it looks more of an "moutain climber" of the three.

JB_The_Evader 07-24-2002, 06:56 PM I think I will. Where do you get these simpsons animations?
smojoe 07-24-2002, 07:55 PM http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/ is the site.
you never really gave me a answer if you want the bumper or not. so, is it worth the brushes?
JB_The_Evader 07-24-2002, 11:22 PM Sorry. I didn't reallize you asked. Yes, It is worth a pair of brushes. It's probably worth more than that. I'll try to pick the brushes up this weekend.
22Racer 07-25-2002, 12:21 AM Doc,
Are you still using the stock motor? We race and have been using p2k's and p2k2's there's barely a noticeable difference. I'm going to try some of those new Orion Rush for practice. They have bearings too so you don't have to oil the bushings, and it doesn't take long and after turning the armature a few times it needs a new armature. Are you planning on racing?
If you are then go ahead and get a stock motor. But for beating around a Rush or a speed gems are the way to go, especially if you don't have acces to a comm lathe. With the Rush or Speed Gems you can adjust the timing, so if your on a slippery surface and don't want all the power turn down the timing a bit.
DOC2869 07-25-2002, 01:19 AM 22racer,
Hey thanks for the info. No I am not racing yet. But i do like to dirt bash with the evader all the time. Im getting decent amounts of speed and torque with the photon speed (stock) motor and the different gearing. Im glad you told be that there really isnt a difference with the p2k2's. I dont want to spend the money and just get a tiny improvement...do you think the rush or speed gems would be any sort of improvement over the photon....
smojoe 07-25-2002, 03:50 AM http://www.trophyclassrc.com/
could this be what your looking for in your maxx, JB? it looks silly with the stock body, but with the proline jeep, it would look sweet!
JB_The_Evader 07-25-2002, 02:52 PM I WANT ONE OF THOSE!!! If only it weren't $400. That would be probably one of the coolest rock climbing emaxxes around. Put in two diff spool, aluminum shocks, the jeep (or the hummer, in this case) body and you have one nice looking E. but look at the prices: E-maxx: $290 at lhs (www.ultimatehobbies.com); dynamite shocks: $75 at stormer hobbies; that class one upgrade: $400; body and paint: $40; Diff spools: $25; skidplates, if they aren't included in the class one kit: $40 for set. That's $880. Add 7% tax, various shipping and handling chargees (which I estimate would be about $40 total, if not more)and you get a grand total of (add drumroll) $940
smojoe 07-25-2002, 03:25 PM lol, thats about how much cash ive put into my evader....
JB_The_Evader 07-25-2002, 03:27 PM How did you put that much into an evader?
smojoe 07-25-2002, 03:33 PM electronics and wheels.
JB_The_Evader 07-25-2002, 03:59 PM Well, if its electronics and tires, heres the price breakdown:
Dang! lets see. F1 Pro reverse: 100 jr radio: 100 P-94: 50 Hitec hs-645mg servo :50
batteries: I'm guessing $60-100
total including evader; $470
lets see here 940
- 470
= 470
Holy cow! thats a lot too spend on tires LOL. Yes, I reallize you were exagerating. I just felt like posting this with all the numbers... kinda bored, cant you tell?
JB_The_Evader 07-25-2002, 04:05 PM Dang I cant get my signature to work
smojoe 07-25-2002, 04:10 PM you forgot charger, batteries, tools, paint and hop-ups
i cant get my signature to work either...
JB_The_Evader 07-25-2002, 04:22 PM I'll have to ask hankster about that
jep_rc 07-25-2002, 05:46 PM Hi guys - just testing my signature, since you mentioned it.
(Nope - looks like it is not working, hmmmm )
smojoe 07-25-2002, 05:50 PM interesting (said in sly voice, but sence you guys cant hear me...)
22Racer 07-26-2002, 12:29 AM Doc,
Yes you will notice a difference with a cheap mod. Probably feel about twice as fast. If you have the stock esc. to be safe stay with the higher winds, 15 to 19. Yes even though the photon is a 20 turn it's not a real fast 20 turn. Make sure your slipper is set properly (slips a little when you start out) to save your tranny gears. Otherwise I'll have to make you some good ones.
smojoe 07-26-2002, 01:51 AM 22-
so are you selling the tranny that you discribed (the one with the robinsons pionions and stuff)? if so, how much are you asking?
JB_The_Evader 07-26-2002, 03:47 PM I just got pm from hankster. He says that the signatures are turned off.
Smojoe, I need to know what brushes you want, since I'm probably going to go to my lhs tomorrow.
smojoe 07-26-2002, 04:26 PM these.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LX2431&P=0
and if their under 3 bucks, how about two sets?
JB_The_Evader 07-26-2002, 05:45 PM No problem. does the photon speed use laydown of standup brushes? I haven't use it in a while.
smojoe 07-26-2002, 06:35 PM standup, or mod, brushes. how many motors do you have, anyway?
JB_The_Evader 07-26-2002, 07:10 PM 4. The stock photon speed got a bent brush hood in a crash, i fixed it, but something is still wrong with it. It squeals and has a lot more sparks than normal. I think I'll take it apart tonight. Well, for a replacement for that I got a speedgems 2. After I got my ipc esc,I got a p-94. I then got a p2k2 pro. I was looking for something to race in a stock class, as well as more run time (you have a 12t p-94, you should know what I mean.) I'm just happy the e-maxx motors are $20 each. I think when the stock motors go (sealed endbell, so I can't true the comm or replace brushes), I don't want to get an aftermarked setup; I'll just stick with the titans.
As for your brushes, If my lhs doesn't have those, what do you want? I've never shopped for brushes there, so I don't know how good their selection is. If they don't have those, I could just pick up or different pair, or something else. A pair of brushes seems like too little for the bumper. I would be happy to give you a battery or something for it instead of the brushes. On the other hand, the brushes are a necessity, so they would probably be best..
Just out of curiosity, do you have a subscription to rccar action? Do you even read that mag?
smojoe 07-26-2002, 11:35 PM rccar puts me to sleep at night. lol. i wish i had that e-maxx in the "street muscle" article. http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/deal.gif ya, i need the brushes. the ones i have on the photon are about 1/6 of a inch long. i need em' http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/down.gif
JB_The_Evader 07-27-2002, 03:04 AM OK. If they don't have the brushes you want, I'll pick up a different kind. If you tell me which you want in case they don't have those, I'll get the ones you specify. If you don't tell me what brushes you want if they don't have the associateds, I'll just pick a pair that looks good.
RC CAR gets me through work. I have a summer job working for a family member. One job I do involves the internet, and the connections is slow, so I read RCCAR action while I wait!lol makes the time fly.
smojoe 07-27-2002, 02:30 PM any kind that will fit in the brush hoods and look like that will look. i dont need the "eye" thing at the end of the brush wire; i solder them on for less resistance.
JB_The_Evader 07-27-2002, 11:18 PM I got the brushes today. 2 packs of 737x's should do it.
BTW, smojoe, do you remember when I mentioned I was doing that offroad obstacle course in my backyard? It's almost done.
smojoe 07-28-2002, 01:42 AM sweet. thats gonna be awsome with the emaxx.
smojoe 07-28-2002, 02:32 AM the EVBX

JB_The_Evader 07-28-2002, 02:42 AM Well, actually, it is done except for one part: the rock/brick pile. We don't really have anything to use lying around. I 'm sort of thnking of just doing a big pile of dirt instead, but we don't have enough of that, either. We have 4 sections done: The whoop section, the ditch, the dirt mound bump section (I don't know how to briefly explain it), and the combo hill/ ditch section. The last ditch isn't as hard to go through as the other. The sides aren't as steep. I'll try to get pictures. I ran my E-maxx through it, and Speedy_T3_Racer ran his t3 through. We used lots of water to make the ground softer and easier to work with, and it hadn't dried completely, so it was pretty muddy.. My E and my friend's T3 are on cinder blocks in my garage waiting to be cleaned, and the tires are outside drying. The e-maxx just about floats over the obsacles (unless you go up the steep side of the hill;there isn't much traction if you go at it at low speed. Go at it at high speed, however....). The T3 had problems, though; It has small, bare tires, and on the whoop section it would high center on a hump, couldn't get traction on the ditch, also high centered on the bump section (untill we made the bumps smaller) and got no traction up the steep side of the hill. He made it over the obstacles a few times, but not as easily as the e-maxx. Hopefully I'll finish it soon and get pictures!
JB_The_Evader 07-28-2002, 02:44 AM That evader buggy looks awsome! That thing looks like a losi! I can't wait to see the evader MT!
smojoe 07-28-2002, 02:46 AM i dont know if duratrax is going to make it. tower removed it from the duratrax part of the site. i also cant find it in a search.
JB_The_Evader 07-28-2002, 03:05 PM Our obstacle course is done! We got the bricks from a guy on our street. He is also going to give us some wood. Speedy_T3_Racer and I are going to ad a second "story" to some of it. Were gonna drive 2 by 4's into the ground and place wood on top of them. If we pull this off, it will be great!
smojoe 07-29-2002, 01:39 AM jb-
hows the pivot ball steering working for the maxx? if it doesent have it allready, i would put some of the evaders "foamies" in there to keep dust and dirt from chewing up the ball and socket.
Speedy_T3_Racer 07-29-2002, 01:25 PM hey jb have you talked to your dad yet about extending the track to the dirt on the sides of our track.
Speedy_T3_Racer 07-29-2002, 01:31 PM Also jb I was wondering how many posts it takes to become a member. I hate being a Jr. member it makes you look lower ranked than new members.

smojoe 07-29-2002, 02:48 PM T3 racer-
im pretty sure you need around 70 to be a "member"
Speedy_T3_Racer 07-29-2002, 04:29 PM thank you im almost there woowey. only 16 more I think.
smojoe 07-29-2002, 11:59 PM anyone know if any of the robinsons racing spurs can mount onto the evader without modifications?
22Racer 07-30-2002, 12:59 AM I bought one of those pack's with 5 or 6. They really fit nice but it's a starter set and they wear out fast.
DOC2869 07-30-2002, 02:32 AM Doc,
Yes you will notice a difference with a cheap mod.
Any recommendations on motors 22racer????????????
Speedy_T3_Racer 07-30-2002, 12:41 PM ya anyone have recommendations on a 19 turn motor.
Talking Evader 07-30-2002, 04:25 PM If you want to stick with the Stock Esc, try a SG Pro Amber. It will probably last a while because of the P-94 brushes and ball bearings. Also, it doesn't cost much.:dude:
RS4MT 07-30-2002, 04:27 PM u could also use a charlmilion. if you really want to go fast change the esc!!;)
Talking Evader 07-30-2002, 04:34 PM A chameleon does not have adjustable timing. It is also pacificly made for a certain spec class. Not for backyard bashing.
