Dan the Man 05-11-2003, 04:23 AM How you been? I don't see you spreading sunshine around the threads as much anymore. :lol:I found that I was answering the same good questions over and over, and sniping at the dumb ones. Been posting more to RC10B4.com.
OBEvader: there were two STs and a BX in today's novice class. Ghod, I hope we can get an offroad track soon...
Dan,
For answers to questions you are the man. I know what you mean about common questions. The Traxxas site will drive you nuts.
I also think there is an evolutionary process. As newer members start posting the current group of users should field the questions. It's apart of the learning process.
No track yet? I thought you had one in the works?
Dan the Man 05-11-2003, 04:50 PM No track yet? I thought you had one in the works? We have two friends with different ideas as to what should be done, and they're trying very hard not to step on each others' toes. If all goes well, we'll have a track right in the center of town behind the McD's, with lots of spectator traffic. If that falls through, we'll have a track way back in a dark corner of the fairgrounds...
The track in town sounds great. Hot food, spectators, and flush toilets what else could a RCer want?
Good luck, I hope the friends can work it out.
Evader Blue 05-12-2003, 09:18 PM Hello all. Got to race a little on Sunday but it was too windy and we all gave up after 30 minutes. I did find out an interchangable part for the front hinge pin brace. If your like me and have'nt gotten the Jep brace yet the Losi brace does work. The part # is A-1102 and you get 2 in the bag. Fits right on with no changes needed. Good luck all and keep driven on
orbitron 05-13-2003, 06:10 PM Just finished 1/2 hour ago. Why is nobody posting here anymore?

looks nice!
no not alot of traffic here anymore.
still think it's too early for out door running.
nice were i'm at but need some parts no one has. but just switched to xx-t shock towers. going to order xx-t front body mount and front spindles. also need a new chassis. but i really like the way the mini looks.
peter
orbitron 05-13-2003, 06:52 PM STOP
going to order xx-t front body mount ...but i really like the way the mini looks.
peter
Don't buy the body mount. Go universal... Explanation here. (http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/universal.html)
If you do this you can fit ANY body on your truck. Email me if you need more detail.
ronbeck 05-13-2003, 07:30 PM i've used other universals on the back for the hpi baja body will have to check that part number out tomarrow or friday. i like your site it's nice! :)
orbitron 05-13-2003, 08:11 PM Thanks. The mini page is still to come
ronbeck 05-13-2003, 09:02 PM sweet!!
orbitron 05-14-2003, 01:05 PM And here it is the much anticipated, often imitated, never duplicated, (are you irritated?).....MINI PAGE! (http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/mini.html)
Evader Blue 05-14-2003, 09:53 PM All hail the mighty body master orbitron!!! lol :D Looks good. Thanks for listing the kit # also. Now you might have me trying some diffrent bodies since you've had such good luck.
orbitron 05-19-2003, 02:27 AM Just got some new rims for the front. The Duratrax rubber is hard to get off the rims. Does anyone have suggestions of some front rubber that is good for dirt.
ronbeck 05-19-2003, 02:41 AM team losi tires are nice, i run there pins in the back and re-mounted the stock front tires.
peter
:jest:
orbitron 05-19-2003, 11:29 AM Yeah, I'm trying to re-mount the front. I would imagine they never wear out. But the glue is so hard to break. I'm slowly cutting them away (not like last time with the rears and got a huge blister on my thumb) it's just such a pain. Really does the diference of amount of ribs or compund really matter in the front? I would imagine not so. Unless I was a pro
ronbeck 05-19-2003, 12:02 PM i don't know about the ribs?? but try finger nail polish remover on the tire glue. and dboiling dosen't work for the duratrax rims. mine melted! :freak: you live and learn "shrug" :)
good luck
peter
orbitron 05-20-2003, 01:02 AM Got 'em off today. I will mount them someday soon. My plan was to get a whole pile of RPM Talonz rims and put different tires on all of them. That way I can mix and match with the truck still looking slick. got two complete sets now.
Evader Blue 05-20-2003, 09:33 AM Don't use acetone on the RPM chrome rims. Someone at the LHS did and it stripped the chrome clean off and put slight pits in the plastic also.
orbitron 05-21-2003, 01:01 AM I got the old tires mounted on the RPMs now. How happy I am. I thought about using denatured alchohol on them but I found cutting them off was just easier.
orbitron 05-24-2003, 12:12 AM Wanna see an evader jump two cars? http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/may23/twocars.avi
more pics and video here. (http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/may23.html)
ronbeck 05-24-2003, 01:11 AM sweet jump!!!!!!

JB_The_Evader 05-28-2003, 02:33 AM I've got a question for you guys. I'm not sure if this belongs in the swap and sell section or here (since i'm not selling anything) so hankster, if you have any problems with this post, just tell me and i'll edit it.
What would you say this would sell for:
evader st rolling chassis (no electronics)
Stock rear tires (now slicks)
Stock front tires (not mounted, needs rims)
pro-line edge tires (not mounted, needs rims)
pro-line holeshot tires (mounted on duratrax rims)
pro-line dirt hawgs 2 tires (not mounted, needs rims)
team losi 8 rib front tires on losi rims
2 suspension arms
spare servo saver assembly
2 steering bellcrank assemblies (minus small washer/bushing things)
2 front suspension arms
2 rear hub carries
8 spare idler gears
2 stock evader bodies (blue and silver)
1 custom painted body (losi)
Again, I'm not selling right now but trying to get an estimate. What do you guys think this is worth? And again, hankster, if you have a problem with this, I have no problems deleting it or moving it or what ever.
I've had this truck for a little over a year now, and i figure I got some pretty good use for it. I'm thinking of selling it and getting an associated b4. thanks :)
ronbeck 05-28-2003, 03:36 AM when i look at used rc stuff i look for things at 50% of new price or less. i would figure out what it cost you. think of the 50% action and adjust it to get a number you won't regret. i haven't bought any parts for my evader latlely(besides a chassis for $20) so i'm not sure about wheel and tire prices. tamiya mini cooper s;icks go for $15 a pair!>?>?>? sorry if this dosen't help a little over cooked due to really nice weather and watching my daughter's softball team for two hours in the sun. i was weird the sun shine didn't come down in that usall wet stuff from the sky :) that's what i get for living ing mold green pacific northwest..

mrfixit54016 05-28-2003, 02:37 PM JB-
You might be better off to break up the lot of stuff into maybe three listings. ( rolling chassis, evader parts, and tires & wheels)
I recently tried listing my Evader RTR with tons of hop-up parts and spare stuff, but it never hit my reserve price, so I am keeping it. I just placed another Tower order for more goodies to make my summer enjoyable!
JB_The_Evader 05-28-2003, 11:59 PM thanks. I figured out that about half of what I paid for it is $220, so I'll probably try to sell it for around $230-240. Does this seem reasonable to you?(btw, the cost includes the sprint esc. I see no reason to hold on to it. I would include the radio gear, but somethings wrong with it and i'm not sure if its the transmitter or the receiver. I'll have to check later)
aznjunkie 05-29-2003, 12:17 AM JB_The_Evader - Good luck trying to sell your evader. I'm trying to sell mine with hop ups like Ti and metal idler gear and I'm not getting anything. I put it up for $80 shipped for roller and no one wants it. It's really hard selling the evader IMO. :(
JB_The_Evader 05-30-2003, 10:07 PM I've seen your thing on the sns section before. I'm including over $100 in rims and tires, so maybe i'll have better luck. I'm probably gonna just offer a trade for a NIB b4 if i cant sell it.
JB_The_Evader 05-31-2003, 02:25 AM I've got my sale informating up in the SnS section. If anybody is interested in a second evader, check it out.
Dan the Man 05-31-2003, 02:40 AM A racing friend of mine here in Ridgecrest started a hobby store a few weeks ago and he's been selling Evaders as fast as he can get them in stock. The novice class at present consists of three STs and two BXs, plus a TC3 and a XXXS.
I love novice class, it's always a riot.

mrfixit54016 06-01-2003, 12:05 AM Ok, so I decided to keep my Evader and I just mounted a set of Proline Mashers on RPM Clawz rims. Great Fun! For bashing around, this set-up is hard to beat. Take a look...

Peter, I solved my steering woes a while back by installing a Hitec 625 metal gear servo and an aluminum servo arm from Servocity.com. I also have gone aluminum in the front hub carriers as well for more strength. (I broke WAY too many of the plastic ones!) The metal geared servos are one of the best investments you will ever make along with some NiMH battery packs. Those two changes have made a great difference in my enjoyment of the hobby. :)
ronbeck 06-01-2003, 01:59 PM i have a metal gear hiugh torque jr 590z servo in. was wondering about all the plastic linkage around the servo saver. i have a rustler i am rebuilding that has huge cheveron tire on it. and the truck has so many worn stering parts to replace and upgrade. was wondering how duratrax's plastic was holding up. but thanks for the reply havef fun. how about some action pics? still have to install my new chassise.
peter
have a nice weekend
:)
mrfixit54016 06-02-2003, 12:23 AM Peter,
I have never had a problem with any of the steering linkage except for the original servo arm. Come to think of it, I may still be running all the original parts throughout the steering area! I was out jumping it today and had some pretty tough cartwheel landings with no issues. What a nice change. I finally feel like I have upgraded all the right things on my truck, so I don't have to run-repair-run-repair-run-repair like the old days. Have a great week...
orbitron 06-02-2003, 03:29 AM I'm with you on the repair-run statement. I bought a Losi XX-T graphite shock tower, Hitech Mg625, Jep-RC combo (only front end is installed), and aluminum front hub carriers. And now I'm invincible!! :D But seriously, I have (not) landed jumps like these http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/may23/sidecrash.JPG and http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/may23/hugecrash.JPG
and all is well. Finally the truck I always wanted!
mrfixit54016 06-02-2003, 10:42 AM Orbitron,
Thanks for the inspiration to try the fancy RPM wheels. I think you have done a great job of dressing up your Evader. My next step is more speed. I just traded-up to the Duratrax 8turn reversible ESC, so now I can try an even lower turn motor in my truck. The 13 turn Speed Gems is very impressive, but I have an itch to try a 9T motor. The addiction to speed is VERY powerful! Be careful out there!
orbitron 06-02-2003, 11:15 AM My addiction is painting bodies! Don't ever paint one! I'm currently working on a PT cruiser. Please let it be the last one this season.
I bought a new 16t Intellispeed reversible ESC for my truck and have ben haunted by the 16t limit. But I bought it so I could enter a few stock races 27t!!
mrfixit54016 06-02-2003, 01:49 PM I have not tried the organized racing yet, but I am getting a used P2K pro this week that will allow me to enter the stock class if I ever get around to it. The whole idea of racing with a pack of trucks and not being able to use your reverse sounds like a blast! I think too much speed would get you into more trouble than anything else. I am looking forward to the challenge. Good Luck!
orbitron 06-02-2003, 10:54 PM I finishe my PT Cruiser just a few hours ago. Here is the link. (http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/ptcruiser.html) Here is a tease.
http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/ptcruiser/rear.JPG
bigbadstu 06-02-2003, 11:29 PM ANY body will fit the Evader as long as you play with the body posts. use Traxxas #1914 body posts and have a blast. I'm currently running an HPI Baja Bug body on my on-road Vader.
if you know a decent machinist you can add a 2-speed tranny to the Vader without too much trouble. although the plastic gets pretty fragile once speeds top 40 mph or so.
a T-Maxx shock tower will fit on the rear of the Vader if you trim the posts where the shocks mount. it's pretty near indestructible and the chassis holes line up perfectly.
Evader Blue 06-03-2003, 09:51 AM Hey orb next time try jumping thru the cars instead of over them. :jest: Nice PT body looks sharp. What brand is it? Has anyone tried mounting an HPI body to a vader yet? Wondering how good the mounts will line up because I'd like to try the Ram body of an RS4 MT.
orbitron 06-03-2003, 11:06 AM Pro-Line Pt Cruiser 190mm. I was amazed it looked so low when mounted. I also like the Dodge for the MT but I think the problem lies in the front shock tower. Since on the MT the shocks are mounted really close on the top and on the Evader they are really far apart, that will cause issues. However, if you mount the body high, it would probably work. I used a HPI mounting kit on my truck (#85032)

http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rjfrankl/universal/reartower2.JPG
Now I can put anything on it.
Speedy_T3_Racer 06-08-2003, 03:47 PM wow JB your thread is almost at 2,000 posts
Mames 06-19-2003, 11:58 PM hey where did every one go??? i saw alot of you sold your trucks and was wondering whos left???
matt
rcguy2477 06-20-2003, 12:02 PM i still have my evader. I plan on gettin some 33oo's for it and a integy 16x6v6 charger. Also, i race my evader.
orbitron 06-20-2003, 12:29 PM Still here, just have no time to do anything to my truck.
mrfixit54016 06-20-2003, 01:17 PM I noticed the lull in this thread also.
I am still running my Evader. I stripped my first Idler gear last week trying to wheelie with my 13 turn motor. (Reverse, Forward, Reverse, Forward, Reverse, STRIPPPP)
So I guess I will have to pay the price to get the aluminum gear from 22Racer. Anyway, I am planning on keeping my Evader for the fun of it. Now that I have added the right upgrades, it is so dependable and tuff that I am really enjoying it.
Happy summer to you all!
