A new thread for a new year.

Congrats to Jesse Bean, Brandon Rippons, Andy McClellan, and Johnny Broyles on their wins at Greeneville RC Speedway this past weekend.

Jesse TQ'd stock and broke the track record. He was flying. I couldn't get out of the way fast enough. Good job, Jesse.

Brandon Rippons TQ'd and broke the track record in 13.5 brushless beating his dad by almost a lap.

Johnny Broyles was fast as always TQ'ing and taking down the record in 19turn.

Andy was as fast as ever in modified.

Keep it up boys!

I have a gen2 and was wondering what t-plate everybody's running when setup in the offset t-plate standard pod position? Do you run the offset one or the symetrical one? Any help would be appreciated.

You need the offset tplate anytime you are running your t-plate offset, regardless of how you are running the pod. The symmetrical plate is only used when you've got your tplate centered on the chassis.

I want to say congrats to Jesse as well. I think he will represent KSG very well. I know he did at Maximus, and Greeneville the past few weeks! Hopefully we can lay it down at K&N this weekend! Any word on when the kits will be available? I am waiting on one.

Thanks

Hays JR so you are saying if you are running your T plate shock brace ect on the left side holes you would run the offset t plate long end to the right then move the pod to the offset holes to run the offset hubs? And you would run the left top pod plate with this combo?

KSG makes a t plate with cut outs in them so I asume you are running the solid one.

I can give you some of my sert up for a Gen2 flat carpet 140 foot runline.

Ksg dual rate springs Rf black lf blue

Camber rf pos 2 deg lf neg 1 deg

adjusting holes rf center lf top

left side toe corector

center shock mount all the way forward in left off set pos

Center shock copper Silva spring 35 wt oil

Side shocks blue on both sides AE Silva conversions 35 wt oil

pod offset to the left with fiberglass off set t plate

offset left top plate

ORC bottom podplate

long diff hub and short left hub both as close as I can get then to the pod plates.

Every thing mounted to the left on the slider tray.

BSR foams RR white rf greay lf white lr peral white.

tons of traction with this car could probely ease up with the soft compounds abit but it works great for me

not saying this is the best set up but it has worked for me in the 4300 BL class.

some like to run a silver spring on one of the side shocks some diffrent oil ect.

I ran 83 laps in the second qualifer at my club race last week and second fastest QT main was a reck fest and I put the wrong rite side foam on

Good luck

i've been running the blacks on the right and left sides with no sag in the right and about .20" sag in the left. these progress up to eleven pounds in the corner so it's a direct swap for the wolf red and greens. you'll notice they are smoother in the corner especially at tracks that have a slight chop in the corners like at greeneville. really helps keep the car settled in the bumps. I used the blues at a banked track recently but haven't found a use for the purples yet. i'm sure they will work good on pavement this summer though.

hey jdw, sorry i missed urs when i replied.... yes it's a solid .063 t plate i'm using. i've been running harder springs than most around a seven or eight pound silva with it. laytr, J...

KSG gen2 was on fire this past week-end in Vermont...on saturday at RCtoybox in 19Tpro , i TQ and set a new track record during the qualify...and i win and reset the track record again during the A-main!! i win and qualify 1 laps over the field!!! the car was so good and easy to drive!!

on sunday at Barre R/C in stock (didn t run stock a lot during the last 2years maybe 3 time), i qualify 4th at 1sec from the TQ...and during the main after a bad start that put me in the back i was able to catch the field and during a small wrech up front i was able to found my way to the lead and keep it to the end and winning the A-main. after a roll out change for tha main my car was fast as the guy who qualify in front of me!!

for sure the KSG gen2 is a winning car right out of the box!!

big thanks to Andy and Jim for this great car!!!

I just bought a used KSG gen1. What are the differances in these? I need to know which parts will interchange. I would like to get some spare parts but aren't sure which are for my kit.

Thanks, Jeff

P.S. I will probably be buying from Lefthander. I am guessing that the parts that dont have gen2 are for the gen1?

JDW
01-17-2007, 11:19 PM
You can buy a Gen 2 conversion for 160 from Lefthander.Comes with every thing you need to convert it.

All parts are the same but the chassie and sliding tray and front end adjusters(gen 2 has them )(gen 1 does not)

I put my son's Gen 2 together today...and I have to say "I DON"T HAVE A CLUE"

I'm going to have him run it tomorrow up in Stockton on the Carpet...but the tracking width, and the way the body is located almost scares me. I'm not too sure about how I've got the geometry set up...is there a good place with detailed PICS of set ups for the Gen 2? I can read "centered pod" "off-set pod", and so on..but I'm still not sure which is which and which I should be doing. Our old cars didn't have much choice as to how to mount things...(I was much less confused)

uv got a pm!

be more specific when posting here and i can probably help u figure out things ur not sure off. I run the 0 locator on the RF and the 1 locator on the LF with no additional shimming on the axles and only the necessary short shim on the LR to keep the wheel from rubbing the pod. The 0 slugs in the front stage the front end in the same position as the original XCS chassis. Andy and Jim have done a lot of research in the positioning of the wheels on this car so u should not have to shim the car any wider than it is. Sorry for the lack of setups on the site but i think many don't keep the notes to share. i'm gonna be posting my setup on the ksgmotorsports.com site soon just wanna test it at a couple more tracks to finalize the sheet.

Jesse,

Thanks for the info..and the PM.

My son's Gen2 got run today up at the SILVA CLASSIC Carpet race in Stockton CA. We only made one day of the 2 day event and had minimal track time and were not only shaking out the new car, but also a 5.5 Novak B/L system.

I only currently have the ZERO locaters so that's what we ran, I did talk to a few of the KSG guys today and got a few more pointers...but I've still got a lot of homework to do(Wow is this thing adjustable)

It actually worked pretty decent considering how many NEW things involved, (He qualified last in the "A", but I messed him up by getting him too loose for the main, plus a spektrum issue that seemed to loose it's trim set up)

The track (98 x 48 Carpet) was a blast, even if it was a struggle for speed. The car worked pretty decent the first qualifier, so it was time to try to get some speed. Put a little gear on it...picked up a couple .10ths, but round 2 was kind of BRUTAL...practice session just before the main the car looked and son said it felt like it wanted to "Dirt Track" or "Drift" into the corners, and kind of hook coming off.

I can say...THIS CAR is FUN...but it's going to keep me on my toes (Or him once he gets use to making the adjustments)

I got to run his Gen1...and that make me pucker a little with the cornering. I was pushing a 6x1 and never found it's speed potential...but WOW was it fun for a while...until some dope stuck the wrong pack in it for the main and only made about 8 laps.

btw, we do visit the KSG Homepage quite often (His login is Myers)

unfortunately, i'm not confident enough in my own set ups to give advice on a mod car. I'm just beginning to mess a little with the brushless too. As i figure this thing out i'll be able to help more but i'll say Andy's working on some things with his own 4300 car to help the brushless crowd out and stay ahead off all the competitions designs. He ran a new track record this weekend in practice with the 4300 chassis which he built this week and then lent it to capable hands of caleb mullins to set track record in the final heat and the main. Congrats to Caleb for a great drivin session!
