Hi Scott,
I didn´t try this principle with slotcar arms yet, but I´ve been doing it with my micro RC planes´ props for quite a while now.
No need to buy an expensive tool though! All you basically need is 2 Neo dots and a bit (3 pieces) of scrap sheet styrene (even wood would work...). Just make sure the mags are levelled and that you have a little more space between the mags than the arm shaft´s length. Absolutely frictionless...

I have one of those , Those things are great but tiddius to use.Set the arm in and see where is points.Remove and drill or shave off metal. Redo until centered in the tool and level :freak: .You can also use epoxy to balance also.. Neat tool though. You can also make one from an old wheel press. glue your dot mags on from radio shack and presto.. Arm balancing tool... :thumbsup:
