Fuel?...I'm not sure yet. It will probably be bring your own QSAC legal fuel........ Also, You must be a current QSAC member to compete at this event.
I haven't thought about Pre Entries much. .............. I'm not sure we need it, Why??........So far I have over 20 racers committed (Verbally & Email) to this event. We're hoping for a lot more!!!

Sonny B 12-28-2006, 01:47 PM Scott,
Having never run a 1/4 scale on dirt what are some of the changes you guys have made. Any recommendation on tires?
IN2RACIN 12-28-2006, 02:37 PM Hi Sonny,
I'm not sure what the pavement set up is..? LOL I have never raced a Sprint on pavement (yet).
I think its fairly close though, Pipchocks ran with us, and he said he only changed one or two springs. I run like 16 & 18 # springs on the fronts, and 12 & 10 in the rears.
BRP Tires, the Street Treads work good, all four corners, and the brand new block pattern tires hook up great too. Some guys run the ribbed fronts. I'm running about 1/2' rear stagger.
Put a 16/78 on and come on down!
Are you going to race with us? It would be great to have you!!
SG
Sonny B 12-28-2006, 11:04 PM Scott at best it would be a maybe right now. I have a new GN but thinking about ordering a Sprinter also. I guess I could probably talk to Rick about running his car.
My other problem is May is pretty busy for me with all the USAC short track events and Indy stuff going on. Just looks like your race will be a lot of fun.
I've got it marked on the calender so will see.
IN2RACIN 12-29-2006, 12:08 PM "Fun", That's what we are hoping for. We want everyone to have fun, that's what its all about!!
FAST , FUN! Shaffer Speedway!!

Alloyparts 01-28-2007, 12:58 AM Scott, what was the name of the camp ground again? I would like to check into a cabin there before I book a hotel room.
May is just round the corner and comming up fast, I hope to see and meet a lot of you there, this is going to be a great race event.
sprint2b 01-28-2007, 02:15 AM Scott is there going to be anytime before May we can come out & setup to the track? Being new I could use the track time. Check with Tim see what he says.
IN2RACIN 01-28-2007, 02:34 PM A few things: 1). There is no electric at the track. If you have a genarator bring it. 2).There is no camping at the track. No over night stay @ Shaffer Speedway, Everyone must leave the property at days end. 3). You MUST be a current QSAC Member to race.
So, for all you campers / RV's the good thing is there is a really nice camp ground / state park about 8 to 10 miles away:
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/StateParks/parks/raccooncreek.aspx
Plz check with the park EARLY to make sure they can accommodate your needs.
This race is starting to get BIG!!

For a few years I ran the dirt with electric 1/10 sprinters too and a couple times with a 1/4 scale of a friend of mine . I think that's what got me hooked on 1/4 scale , it just took till 99 to dump all the smaller scales and just do 1/4 scale . Aint no going back .

Fred Murry makes some nice top and front wings . His top wings maybe a little heavier than the foam and corrigated side board type but they are a sturdy piece and take a beating . Been using his since 2000 .

big maestro 02-12-2007, 10:47 PM Jamie, I'm trying to work it out right now. If you can have another car ready by then, I will try even harder :)
Belf28 02-12-2007, 11:34 PM Jamie, I'm trying to work it out right now. If you can have another car ready by then, I will try even harder :)
i gota build 2 cars for me! lol ever seen me wheel yet lol.
its to far of a travel to only bring 1 car. i thought you had a torsion bar type sprint car allready ?
big maestro 02-12-2007, 11:52 PM I have a Arrow sprinter with a skellenger. I also Have that Tom hughs car from Vagas. But they both have skellengers. Mybe I can just bring My Super and run it. :) Just kidding of course. I might just buy a car if you can't have another one ready by then. I would rather get one of yours though. I guess I could always sell the car at the track when I'm finished with it. I just don't know which car to get.
IN2RACIN 02-13-2007, 12:09 PM Well ive decided to run this event cant wait sounds like its going to be fun  now i just need to build 2 cars.. get a hotel booked ,call Todd @ BRP .. find a sorce for some top and front wings, join QSAC and talk Lance Jones into comming to this race.lol
It will be nice to have you!!
Belf28 02-14-2007, 05:13 PM ordered my tires yesterday for this event now i just need to build the car lol.
hope you can make this race lance. if your going to buy a car to race the event i might look into a pro1z seems like a great car . and alot of guys run them in that area from what ive seen in pics
big maestro 02-14-2007, 08:44 PM Yea, I talked to todd about the tires today. I think I will just get a Pro1 It seems to be a good car. I'll call Jim tomorrow and see if he can sell me a car without powder so i can use my color.
I talked with Gary today about the offset car. He said a women bought it and I could'nt offer her enough money for it  That sucks because I would love to have that car in my collection.
I can make the race if I can get the car in time. Only problem I had was a 6 race series we are running with 1/10 scale latemodels and sprints. This race falls on the same weekend as the third race of the series. Since they throw out a race i may just miss that one and head up there.
Later.
Belf28 02-14-2007, 08:47 PM lance check you email in 5 min
IN2RACIN 02-17-2007, 01:02 PM Added QSAC Nats. updates & Race Info., plus the 2007 race schedule here: http://pro1z.com/pqsrc
IN2RACIN 02-19-2007, 07:55 PM So, who's got their Sprints ready for this event? I've seen some nice sprints already this year!
sprint2b 02-19-2007, 08:36 PM Scott we are getting ours lettered next week. Looking to order tires here soon. I hear Tony has another new one on the way. Can't wait come on april.
We had to go run the 1/8 scale offroad last weekend to keep the rust off the joints.. LOL
IN2RACIN 02-20-2007, 03:24 PM Jay - Are u bringing that new guy with you?
Tim Mc 02-20-2007, 04:57 PM About two years back, Bob Jefferson sent over a DVD from Aussy to the QSARF with dirt 1/4 scale sprint car action. For whatever reason I could never get it to open in my windows media player. Well, brought it to work, slapped it into my laptop....son of a gun it played! The video shows some great sprint car and sedan racing. Makes me want a sprint car now. I have the need to plow the grass up my side lot and smooth out the dirt....LOL
I like it!!!!!
IN2RACIN 02-20-2007, 05:33 PM I have that DVD too (It wouldn't play in my vcr either. I watched it on my lap top.) Bob sent me a copy in 2004, that DVD played a major roll in getting us going on DIRT!!
SG
big maestro 02-20-2007, 06:33 PM WELL, Why don't you share selfish :) Just kidding, is there anyway to put it on the computer for us to view. If not sell me a copy. The only action I have is the dvd from ebay and a wcm and new era promo VHS. I have never seen a sprinter on dirt and I KNOW I want one :p I can't wait till I get a sprinter and head up that way. I wonder if a car with a skellenger would still be fast up there. I know they run them in Aussy. HMMMMM!!!!!!!!
Tim Mc 02-20-2007, 06:50 PM It takes a 4.7 gb DVD...about 1.5 hr of racing. I can play it on my home PC but no sound. It ain't no fun without sound!!!
I'll see if I can burn one here at work.
IN2RACIN 02-20-2007, 06:52 PM big maestro - That dvd is about 2 hours long! Couldn't put that on the computer.
There are some short clips here from "down under" http://luddenhamquarterscalespeedway.com/video.html
They race on different surface from us (Shaffer Speedway) , they use pin spiked tires, b/c their dirt is much loser. Ours is more of a hard clay, smooth.
If I can find my copy I'll send it to you to watch.
Tim Mc 02-20-2007, 06:53 PM That promo on ebay looks to be a bunch of thrown together clips and pics....some not even 1/4 scale. I wonder if QSAC gets any royalties from him using the name?
The girls are interesting!
big maestro 02-20-2007, 07:23 PM Yea, its not really that bad. It is of one of the king eight races as far as I can tell. The really sucky part is the girls are just for your attention on ebay. He could have put them in there somewhere. LOL
If you find a copy I would be glad to pay to copy it or what ever. I just like having things like that to show friends. Gotta do what I can to get people in this sport. :)
Tim Mc 02-20-2007, 10:44 PM Is there any stock car chassis being raced on dirt here in the USA that you guys know of? If so, any pics?
big maestro 02-20-2007, 11:15 PM I dont know of any but I am going to try and build something to give it a try on dirt. In Aussy they run the sedans. They have rear ends instead of belts but maybe it can be done with a belt. It just seems to me it would be hard in the configuration we run them now. When one of these cars gets a little loose they usually spin. I don't know if you could run them on the edge like you would need to. I think if you had a solid axle with a four link so you could "steer" the rear of the car it would be a little better. But what do i know, we might be able to put a wedge body on and go racin :)
IN2RACIN 02-21-2007, 12:01 PM We ran our GN cars on (testing) dirt in 04. The cars worked well, but the body worked like a trap, it held in all the dirt / dust. Not good.
Open wheel Sprint / Mod. type cars stay much cleaner........such as carb. airfilter, anything that moves.
big maestro 02-21-2007, 01:10 PM Is'nt the track hard packed. If it's really dusty you could just wet it again to keep the dust down. I dont know becasue I havent seen the track but when I raced go carts we hardly ever had dust. We had mud earlier in the races but that went away kinda quick once the races started. Just an idea.
Also I notice on alot of the pics I've seen of the sedans in Aussy they use fender wells. That is'nt a bad idea. Just babyoil them so the mud wont stick as easy. Just another idea. I think that would just be bad ass to run Late models on dirt in 1/4 scale.
IN2RACIN 02-21-2007, 01:59 PM In 04 Shaffer Speedway wasn't built, we tested on another dirt track that wasn't as hard packed as Shaffer's. Dust is not a problem at Shaffer's. I tested my sprint a few times thier with out cleaning it.
