They are aluminum and act like a heatsink. Randy at BIG Boys Toys is a cool guy and makes some nice stuff!

I have a question. To me it looks to be machined alum but a buddy of mine was trying to tell me it isn't. I think it looks like fairly thick alum that has ball milled slots in it and that when you install it it sits flat down on the fet plate, well the heat transfer stuff anyway. My buddy didn't think so I thought I would ask. How thick is it also? Thanks.

IT's alum and I'm guessing it's about 1/8" thick and it will transfer heat

The covers are made on a mill and are 1/8" thick aluminum. The original thermal compound pad remains between the cover and the FETS.

Do you know how much lighter this would be than the original heat sink? Or is the weight the same and it's just lower profile?

Thanks

They are 1/2 the weight of the original heat sink.

Hi Kevin,
I'm sure Randy will have a few made up for the Silva Classic. I'll bring them up or he might give them to one of the local Bako racers to bring if he doesn't have them ready by the time we race together on 01/07. He's busy now filling orders. These things are popular!

Hi Joe, No need to tell Randy. He actually told me 3 or 4 days ago that he was going to send you one as a surprise thank you for posting the pics and info about the cover.

So act surprised when it arrives ;)

Where can I get one of these? I can not find anyone that handles big boy parts such as lefthander or murdock? Will anyone at the snowbirds have these for sale?

BigBoyToysRandy@yahoo.com: just send an e-mail to this address and he'll take care of you. I ordered 2 and they are good $9.95 plus shipping, I think that is what they cost.

what would happen if you were to put say, an ice cube on that thing before you ran it. will it have any benifit?

i honestly haven't a clue, so that is why i am asking

gezer2u
01-16-2007, 05:47 PM
Shackydave- What does the Raceway front end look like?

Anybody- can the heat sink be ran with 6cells and anything other than a 4300/ 13.5?

LARCGuy
01-17-2007, 05:28 AM
I've only tested it with 4 cells and the 3.5 If it was me, running six cells, I would put the heatsink back on. If it was six cells in a Touring car, everything would go back on.
