My wife totally suprised me with her internet savy and got a wonderful gift for me for my 40th Birthday.

"Otoko-tachi no Yamato"
Yamato: The Last Battle.

I had been searching myself and hadn't found it yet. After waiting two weeks, it finally arrived from Hong Kong.

This movie was released last year in Japan on December 17th? and by the end of the year, became the highest grossing movie in Japan for that year.

The movies producers had 2/3 of the Yamato built FULL SIZE (not 9/10 scale like Cameron's Titanic) and was open to the public after filming for about 6 months. (I seriously almost bought a plane ticket to visit the set.)

The DVD is region 3 and thankfully played on my computer thanks to Power DVD which someone here on these boards recomended that I pick up a long time ago. So thank you.

The movie is very charactor driven, and a little melodramatic at times. But you get a real feal for what life was like in the Japanese Navy.
Unfortunatly, most Japanese productions just can't their CG just right, but it was watchable.

A 1/35 scale model of the Yamato was also made for shots of the ship and gave a good sence of size of the ship.

If your a Yamato fan, this film is a must have.

Subtitled. This was a region 3 (SE Asia) DVD.
Translation was a bit goofy at times.

If you go to DVD Times, there is a review of the 2 disc set.
