My wife surprised me with this today, I thought this was a pretty cool flick and came closer to catching the schizo charm of Philip K Dick's books than any previous attempts. The movie looks and sounds amazing on DVD, haven't checked out the extras yet. I wasn't a big fan of Linkletter's previous Waking Life,but the animation works here with the altered states theme of the movie. In fact, the "scramble suits" probably would have looked silly if attempted as realistic CGI.


I thought Keanu Reeves, Woody Harrelson,Winona Ryder, and especially Robert Downey Jr were great as the stoner housemates, though you could argue it was just "natural" casting!

It's next in my Netflix cue. Now, if my wife would just finish watching 21 Jump Street: Season 2 so I could send it back ... :p
