Lloyd Collins 12-20-2006, 10:03 PM I keep forgetting to check back. Some of Max Rem's fine work! jheilman 12-21-2006, 01:38 AM Still haven't watched all of it. Those quicktime files are HUGE! My four-year-old Mac struggles with them. Anyone have files that are a bit smaller? mactrek 12-21-2006, 02:02 AM I checked it out ... In my honest opinion, I've seen the Enterprise look better. To me, the grid on the top of the saucer was too heavy and kind of made it look like the 18 inch AMT/Ertl model. There was also something about the markings too ... but I can't quite articulate it ... they were either the wrong size or too thick or something. All is not lost though ... The maneuvering was (IMO) spot-on!! No cartoon like lurches or barrel rolls. I think if they were able to get "Max Rem's" mesh and have their new FX team handle maneuvering it, they would have a winning combination. They also had some beautiful angles. Their new Klingon Bird of Prey looked awesome, and the shuttle pod was a nice looking forerunner to the TNG era craft of similar design. I really would like to have a kit of each of them some day! Like I said ... It's all my opinion. However, I interested in what everyone else here thinks about it. John P 12-21-2006, 08:45 AM Definitely their best effort so far. Significantly improved movement of the ship (read: calmed down!), although I agree with mactrek that the image maps on the ship still need work. Wonderful script, of course, thanks to D.C. Fontana herself! They continue to get actors from the original series to appear. Walter Koenig himself this time! And the actor they got to play young Chekov was perfect! A far better Checkov than their Elvis-Kirk, or the apparently 12-year-old Spock. This episode also featured the actress who played Chekov's one-time girlfriend Irina in "The Way to Eden"! And she's still pretty dern attractive. Though I'd love to see how they rationalize the ending, considering. dgtrekker 12-21-2006, 11:20 PM I agree the Enterprise didn't look as good as it had in their previous incarnations, however I would also agree that its movement were quite a bit more starship like instead of an x-wing fighter. The people over at New Voyages were even nice enough to give me permission to post pics on my Star Trek Fan Art Group, so that was cool of them. As far as the end of the episode (without giving anything away), Walter wrote a letter explaining why he liked the ending the way it was and its posted in the fan forum for everyone to see, personally I didn't care for the ending, but the writing by DC Fontana was spot on. Now I just wish Starship Exeter would get there episode finished!!! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
