Got a few of the new AG cars and worked on them with non-acetone nail polish remover on a Q-tip, then with a fine detailing brush and couple of Sharpies. Here's the end result:

I forgot to get the grilles of the black Chevy and the green Tbird... I was hitting them with a black wash to make the recessed areas look "hollow"...

also, the black Chevy has JL wheel inserts. Looking for other realistic-looking ones for the other Chevys...

these things are COOOOOOOOL!

I've tried dry-erase markers, they work well for me too...

I'd love to repaint some of these, I just hate the thought of losing some of the tampos. It'd be really tough to redo the side trim on the Tbirds, for example...

The cragars would look better if they didn't stick out so far. Try a set of blacken pomtiac wheels or Chevy Ralleys what ever they are called it would look alot better.

I really like the fact that these cars have screws holding them together. I have just taken apart one of the yellow 71 Chevy's and stripped the paint off. Now I need to decide what color scheme to paint it. I am looking at the 71 color chips and figure whichever color I choose, it will need to have a vinyl roof........

Nice work on those cars. I passed on them when I first saw them in the store, but after seeing how sharp you made them I believe I'll go buy some and try my hand with the acetone and dry-marker pen. Thanks for the photos.

Ok, I have decided on a color and took apart one of the 71 Chevy's. I have repainted it Rosewood Metallic and after the paint dries, I will do the roof in white and the interior in saddle. The Caprice sedan on the cover of the 71 sales brochure is done in this combination. Now, I wish I could find a set of tires with whitewalls that would work for it. Pics will follow when I am finished. Anyone know of a set of whitewall wheell/tires that will work on this car?

Well, the Rosewood Metallic would not dry.......I even baked it in the oven for a few minutes. Maybe the can of paint was too old? I then stripped the 71 Chevy again and repainted it gold with a white top and left the interior black. I have detailed it and am letting it dry. I will post pisctures when it is re-assembled tomorrow. Still did not come up with whitewalls for it though.

Well, here is the finished car. I need to go over some of the black trim a bit better.......hands aren't as steady as they used to be. Guess my picture taking skills aren't the greatest either........I still think the wheels need to be changed. they just don't do anything for the car. I did cut away the side windows for an open side view with all windows down, which I think looks better on this casting.

I think they are awesome looking castings. My only complaint is that they need to ditch the fender skirts and keep them looking fully stock.

EDIT: Great custom work Jim. They look great! :)

Jim, is that a factory color? It looks real close to my granny's 72 Impala.
Nice work

I was trying to get close to the factory color but it actually looks more like 68 Chevy Ash Gold in person.

Thanks for the tip about removing the tampos. How do you buff the paint back out where the tampos were?
