View Full Version : where to get diff thrust bearing
briano_72 12-18-2006, 10:26 PM i just bought a used s/k car, its got a thrust bearing on the diff, outside of the outter bearing. it takes all the adjusting nut stress off the outter bearing, makes the diff feel real nice too, anyone have any idea who makes em and where to get em ? id like a few sets for my other cars !!
McLin 12-18-2006, 11:18 PM They are getting harder to find. Associated use to have them but I haven't checked in a right good while. I would contact SK, if they put them in their kits they should have replacements.
I have used them for years and would not build a diff without using them.

You can try something else too if you want. Instead of using a shouldered 1/4 in. bearing on the out side of the hub, use a non shouldered. This will put a little gap in between the bearing and the thrust washer and take a little more drag out of it. In fact, I use non shouldered all the way thru the diff.

tw78911sc 12-19-2006, 12:06 AM Check out www.slapmastertools.com, they now have a 1/10 scale version of a more precise thrust bearing. Includes a much smaller brass fixed thrust washer and bearing races that are grooved. The 12th scalers say they never rebuild diffs now!! I put one in my oval car and it is super smooth.

Danielle 12-19-2006, 12:56 AM Well, don't know if this will help, but I have 8 "Legend car" diff rebuild kits with the a thrust bearing in each kit....Got them off Steve Rule before he "offed" the rest of the Bolink stuff (9 yr old daughter is learning how to drive, needed extras)...I bought them for $3 a kit if you want them, but I wouldn't rob just the thrust bearing from the kit, I'd sell them whole, for you to do whatever with them....
Nice...when was I going to hear about this? LOL
BY the way... I think I have 2 or 3 in stock...I will check when I go to the shop tomorrow..if I do I will get back to you!
