Very nice! What a nice lookin' work shop. Nice car stands too!

Dave has asked that I toss a few pictures up here of his Pro 1 cars that are VERY ready to go racing!

As a side note, Dave puts a LOT of thought into his cars along with a great deal of craftsmanship - and it sure shows on these sprinters!

The cars are beautiful - and look like they'll work GREAT on the track.... the track that's covered with snow right now.... seasoning.....

Nice Dirt Cars. I Have Mine Done. But I Only Have A G2 Motor In It For Black Top. Would Like One More With A 230 In It. I Am Building A Late Model. I Want To Run It On Dirt See What Happens. As Soon As My Track Is Done I Will Try It Out. This Will Be The First Year I Hope It Comes Out Nice. Using Pond Bottom For The Track. Good Old Clay. It Is Not All Blue Glay But It Is Like Rock. I Need To Get The Water System Hooked Up. Going To Tap Into Golf Course Sprinkler System To Water It. We Have A 1/4 Mile Track Here. Do They Use Oil On Them???? It Smells Like Oil.

Thanks,,
I would like to have a 1/4 Late Model as well. But honestly I want a rear straight axle for dirt?
This is the stuff I put on my track to condition dirt.

I do not believe they use oil? Todays world and EPA wow! big no no.

well i thought the track should be hard..... that stuff looks like it makes it soft????

the base i have right now is hard like a rock. d6 bulldozer made it packed in real hard. i need some more dirt. i want the back straight to be banked so you can see the car better. and i am making the turns wider. like close to a 100 foot wide and 200 long.

i have a grader and it has to be wide enough so i can make the turn. and around 15 degree banking. flat in the drivers straightaway. i may bank it alittle also. depends on if i have enough dirt. i want to run late model cars GN frames and modified bodies.

the off road will be set up for 1/5 and 1/4 scale cars and trucks. trying to get all zanoah type motors. B5 and FG and MCD, bigboystoysand hobbies.com or largescalerc.com

can't wait to get to work on it. i am working on 1/4 scale black top cars right now. just taking a break.

Yes that stuff breaks down the dirt into small grains. But our dirt here has a lot of clay in it but just black in color. I treat the dirt in the fall and allow mother nature to freeze thaw the dirt and it breaks down. I grade it with a box blade to get level/even. Hook on the roller and make laps and laps and more laps. LOL Because the dirt was easy to work I can easily level then do the rolling. The dirt will have a very hard surface and smoooooth. Holds up,and when the weather erodes it I till it up with my 7 foot pto tiller and start the process again.

I brought in red clay one year and didn't like it. We run during the day and if track condition was dry and a fine dust would appear and make a very very slick track. If you wet the track and run on it it was great for a short while. Then it would dry and start chunking out.

The above chemical is concentrated and cost 150 dollars a year to use. Our track is only 360' foot driveline and 24 foot wide.

Hope this helps? Just sharing what I do.

ok thanks

i have a water system i can tap into. golf course water system. so i can put 60 gallon a min. on the track. i am thinking that a wet surface will be ok for the clay i have. the clay will become like concrete. will need to keep dust down thats all. i will try that and see what happens. with a 30,000 lb grader running over it. should be great. i will see what happens. i see the big boys run on allmost mud. just got to keep the dust down and i think it will be cool.

i have a drag to make the surface flat and level. but that grader has a 16 foot blade that will make it real level.

thanks

Well it is finally warming up and we are getting closer to our official opening day. Jim at PRO 1 has been busy suppling sprint cars to our racers. We have 9 so far and hope to gain a few more after some of the guys who are on the fence see them run on our 360 foot drive line dirt oval.

We look forward to our first year of 1/4 scale racing. Thanks to all on this forum for the education to all of us back here in midwest getting started.

I have not done any testing yet. I rebuilt the offroad track this year and added a sprinkler system to both tracks. And have been traveling to California a lot for a project I have out there. (Hate it when the real job gets in the way of RC)

But it won't be long. I hope to get some track time in two weeks as I am taking some vacation.

I hope playing in the dirt here at Timberline will teach me to run that big track in PA in July!

So, If I bring my sprinter over monday, the 26th, I might be able to make a few laps? I have only gotten to drive mine in the culdesac at my house. And if monday is a go, what time would be a good show up time? This is pup from buckner.

Front bumper, yup I make mine out of Stainless Steel LOL. And why did you push up all the way to the wall and come back down in front of me again??? LOL!!!!!

After 5 inches of rain and tilling up track and rebuilding it 4 hours before the race is not exactly what I had in mind for conditions. But everybody had the same I guess.

Here's a GREAT article in Timberline Raceway which appeared this weekend in the Miami County (KS) paper!

Timberline Link (http://www.kccommunitynews.com/articles/2008/07/04/miami_county_weekend/living/doc486d1f00bbc08563136387.txt)

It says a LOT that Dave is too humble to say himself about the track, it's philosophy and the type of racing enviornment that Dave and his family have created!

I just want more oval races at Timberline. I really like the dirt oval there and his offroad track. Great facility, but the darn KS weather is like picking the lottery winner, just don't know if you gonna get a winner or not. Dave is one hell of a guy! Darn him for making the oval big enough for 1/4 scales, and darn HPI for the baja. I always have a great time there whether I run good or break. i can't wait to see the oval being larger to get some speed going and really get the wings working. I will support t-line as much as I can.

I am copy/ paste this from another site.

I am pleased to announce!!
Chris S, my son and I completed the modification to the Offroad Driver's stand today. We are pleased to announce that we can accommodate RC racer's with special needs (wheel chair)to access the driver's stand without being site impaired by the safety railings. With some cleaver engineering the individuals will also be able to access the drivers stand by themselves.

We have named the apparatus the MIKEINATOR!!!

Over the Winter will be also be adding a ramp to access the NEW Driver's stand for the Oval.
