At any rate, here are the pictures from the Demo Day that Dave had at Timberline Raceway. You will notice that even though the dirt is VERY loose on this particular day, the left front is UP in true sprint car fashion!

Looks like u guys were havin' some FUN!!
fish4check 06-15-2007, 03:03 PM We had a blast running this car on dirt. I feel we will have a nice class of 1/4 scales at Timberline Raceway in the near future!
thekid22 06-15-2007, 04:20 PM it was fun.. even on 4 cars would look cool on that track... that 2 to last pic it a great shot.. if it wasint for the antina and the lack of a driver it looks almost real.
fish4check 07-01-2007, 10:10 AM The track looks a little different today LOL! We have had 16" inches of rain in the last 3 days. Some towns are completely evacuated!!!
IN2RACIN 07-02-2007, 09:01 AM The track looks a little different today LOL! We have had 16" inches of rain in the last 3 days. Some towns are completely evacuated!!!
Are you still above ground? Man, you guys were pounded w/rain......
fish4check 07-02-2007, 04:43 PM Yes we are fine, I live 6 miles West of town on higher ground. Officially I don't know but a total of 22" inches have been poured out of my rain gauge. More is coming Thursday. Rivers are to crest Thursday??? Might get more interesting before it gets better?
Thanks for asking.

Chris K 07-16-2007, 06:30 PM and as is typical of this part of the world this time of the year - we could have used some water on the off road track last weekend - it comes and it goes!
BUT, Dave has been workin' on the oval in between FISHING and WORK and other stuff - and it's lookin' GREAT!
Mr. Fish Guy Dave is the hardest workin' track owner I've ever known!
fish4check 07-20-2007, 03:41 PM http://www.dehlgroup.com/milliken.html
I found this material through Kansas State University extension office. This stuff is awesome. After the floods I applied it and after watering a couple times the track is alot easier to work. And holds up well under 20+ pound ea.1/4 scales. The dirt oval looks awesome! We will have our next oval race July 28th. Jim @ Pro1 is working as hard and fast as he can to get 3-4 more sprinters on there way to Osawatomie,Kansas.

thekid22 07-22-2007, 10:50 PM well, theres a new car siting on my table now, more like hanging off the table, other then a weak spark iam very happy about it, cant wait to start racing them.
fish4check 10-27-2007, 08:31 PM The 1/4 scale market is growing pretty rapidly here at Timberline Raceway. I think Jim D with Pro 1 is happy with his sells?
6 cars are spoken for and we had 3 on the track today. Slow process but 08 is going to be a awesome year!!!
BIGKAHUNA 11-06-2007, 02:35 PM Any Pictures Of The Track????

fish4check 11-09-2007, 02:31 PM Chris K thanks for the photo's.
I need to get some more recent pictures up. Pictured above is the the track at 300' drive line. We are around 360' now. 24 foot lanes instead of the 20' that are shown above.
Alot changes are in progress for this track over off season. New driver's stand, scoring booth, new AMB system,traffic/stoplights,new pit row and sprinkler system.
BIGKAHUNA 11-10-2007, 04:24 PM Cool Track.
I Am Building A New Dirt Track I Think I Want To Make The Turns 80 To 120 Foot And 200' Straights. I Have A Grader And Need To Make It So The Grader Can Make The Turn. Would Like To Make It 500 Plus Run Line. It Is On A Mound So I Think I Should Have Good Drainage.
Plus We Are Going To Have A 1/5 Scale Off Road Track For B5's
fish4check 11-11-2007, 09:49 AM Sounds great Butch!!
We run some HPI B5's on our off road track too.
Here is a link to a updated pic of our facility and the oval in the fore ground.
Notice the 1/4 scale running on the track!!!

BIGKAHUNA 11-14-2007, 12:19 PM The Track Looks Cool. I Can Not Wait Till Summer. Between Running Ashpalt And Dirt I Am Going To Be Busy All Summer. Now I Have A Beer License For The Golf Course That I Am Putting The Tracks On. Should Be A Nice Place When I Get It Complete. Food Tv's Pop's And Racin.
I Like Your Layout. That Gives Me Some Kind Of An Idea To Make My Track. The Lights May Be Great Also When It Gets Hot Out.

Speaking from experience, I feel night racing is a MUST on dirt. It is extremely hard to keep it from getting dusty / loose.
Racing at night is very fast with gobs of grip and no dust!
Slider 11-14-2007, 02:35 PM If your gonna have any decent daytime racing on dirt in the warmer months. You bout need a water truck to keep it wet enough. and have to water it, in between heats. But by the time evening falls, look out, a good track. moisture will come up and then it is time to get some real racing in. And ive done a heap of dirt racing.

We have a gas water pumps, two of them one pulling water from the pond we have, and the other is a forest fire pump that boost the pressure to 135 psi. I use golf course type sprinkler heads located around outside of the track. This works great and takes about 10 minutes to water in between rounds. We have lights for our off road track and ability to add lights to oval in the future. Conduit already in the ground. Our dirt holds water well and yes sometimes our offroad track has to much traction, after sunset.
Here is a link of a picture of sprinkler system in operation.

22Dasher 11-14-2007, 08:51 PM hey guys what manufacturers of the 1/4 sprints are runnig and working well at you track?
I'm trying to get 1/4 sprints going here for dirt as well and am fixin to go out on the limb and buy one to exhibit and show those that runs 1/8 scale ovals these are cheaper in the long run. So basically I am seeking durability for one and handling another.
James
fish4check 11-15-2007, 11:22 AM James,
The 1/4 scale class is new to us. But so far we have 4- SP1 Pro 1 sprints.
I'm sure Jim w/PRO 1 can hook you up.
As far as 1/8 scale over 1/4 scale. I know for a fact, I race 1/8 scale offroad in expert class and I have 25-35% more money in that than my 1/4 scale. Operating cost on 1/8 scale offroad is 3 times the amount over one year.
Just my experiance.
22Dasher 11-15-2007, 02:15 PM Thanks for your input. I'm in deep search now for a 1/4 scale sprint Talked to Jim yesterday and he's like 2 mos or so behind with Hoilday season upon us as well. he did tell me where he knew of a brand new one for sale so I'm waiting back from him on if it's still avail. Other than that I had a guy contact me on his used one and spoke to a guy with a WCM right now I'm trying to figure out which chassis is overall better and durable. I'm fixin to sink a ton of money into this hoping to have followers. If it flops I may be out to race with you guys.
James
Slider 11-15-2007, 03:37 PM The watering system is sweet no doubt. I like a track who has the means and ability to make it a good racing surface. Props to ya! not many tracks really give a hoot, When it comes to dirt. I love Dirt tracks. :woohoo:

have you looked into randy bakers sprint that renracer has. i have seen these work on the paved oval and they are a thing of beauty. randy is also a great guy to work with he will bend over backwards to help any racer that needs help no matter what type of car they have.

Thanks,
I'm pretty obsessed in keeping the track looking good. Quite a challenge in itself. The track packs in real well by the time first round is over. Most of the time I blow the little bit of dust up to the cushion and lightly water again. The goove really comes around for the rest of the day. We are running street tread with alot success in all classes including quarter scale.

BIGKAHUNA 11-17-2007, 12:00 AM i have seen wcm and pro1 they are so close to one another and both are fast. depends on how you set it up. i have a g2 motor in a wcm and i can race with the new red top motors. hp does not allways win a race. fast in the turns will beat most fast cars down the straight.

You got him . James I'm not a car manufacturer . The cars I build are comprised of all the manufactures parts , and some of my own designs . More or less you could say they are one piece at a time cars . Also what I build are designed for mainly pavement , offset to the max within the legal limits of the rules . Although I did race the car at the Dirt Nationals at Shaffer's track in Pa. and had some success with it , it took alot to make it work right . At this present time I'm unprepared to build any cars because of lack of parts inventory and time . I would say your best bet is to either find a good used car or get a new one from one of the main manufactures . PRO 1 , WCM , Preditor ( Larry Cross's car - owner of Lightning ) are all good cars . There are also some other car builders out there that I'm not familiar with but I'm sure they are good quality pieces of work . It goes without saying , no matter which car you choose , it takes some work to make the car work for you application . Good luck in your future dirt racing adventures .

Hi Randy, Thanks for replying and also for being up front on your car setup for dirt. It helps me narrow down my choices on a car for dirt and I respect your forwardness on your cars and how they handle on dirt and that you're not prepared to take on any orders for now as well.
The more I'm talknig and reading it seems that the sprint cars are on a major comeback from back when I raced my GN in sportsman class yrs ago. The only time I got to see any in action was at the QSAC national points series.
Dirt track racing is big in my area and there are a few RC oval dirt tracks near by so I am trying to get 1/4 scale in the guys blood and get something going here.
Unless I'm missing something and for those out there please chime in either here or privately The more folks I've spoke to have seemed to tell me to go with WCM for a dirt sprinter. I like the idea of taking something from ea manufacturer and putting together a car this way you can use the best of there concepts and integrate it into one. I'm aware cost is driven upwards in doing so. So I reckon until I can get a Hybrid I'll probably purchase the WCM and work on others in my area into jumping onboard as well.
James
FMurry8995 11-19-2007, 02:59 AM James: The WCM is an excellent choice for dirt and or pavement racing. Parts are easy to get and the cars work right out of the box so to speak. As with any car you will find things that you may want to do different as i have seen many different ways of seting up the same car. You may want your battery pack one place and your fuel cell in another. Fact is all of the cars out on the market today are pretty darn good. I have had experience with all of them. Todays cars are far superior to the cars of 10 to 15 years back. The sprint cars are alot stronger and faster today than at any time in quater scale. If i can be of any help feel free to call me. I'll talk 1/4 scale anytime.
Fred
22Dasher 11-19-2007, 08:32 PM Thanks Fred,
So how alive is 1/4 scale now days? I have ehard it's been a good yr for the builders as they are back logged with orders. Is this due to more racers or the existing racers geting new chassis? a couple yrs back before Danny quit building the raco I had almost purchased another GN car but at that point had heard it wasn't looking so good. So of course I didn't invest due to that fact.
I see that you're in ohio, rumor has it a dirt track is in the plans for Ohio can you verify this?
Love to give you a call sometime and talk 1/4's. I've been out of the loop way too long and I don't see any names I recognize from the days I raced except for Roger Newell. Now that makes me really feel old....

Chris K 12-30-2007, 06:41 PM Dave has asked that I toss a few pictures up here of his Pro 1 cars that are VERY ready to go racing!
As a side note, Dave puts a LOT of thought into his cars along with a great deal of craftsmanship - and it sure shows on these sprinters!
