It would have been a good move had they done it the right way. Get back the original actors and continue the Five year Mission Of the TOS.

I like the idea. Go forward. The past is history, and future is where Trek should be. But I hope, a war of the week, is not the direction they want to go.

That is SO NOT Star Trek. Its yet another crappy generic cartoon with vaguely trekish/flash gordon-ish looking details.

DON'T DO THIS TO US CBS/PARACRAP!!!!!

*yawn*

Trek needs a rest. That JJ Abrams will helm the next movie is a good thing, but frankly I could've waited another 4, 10, 15 years for another Trek resurrection.

Let us get sick of Galactica before bringing Trek back. ;)

I think Animation would be a great medium for them to return to. But do it in a more adult fashion.

Agreed. The horse is dead, Jim.

I like the idea--always have.

I compare cartoons vs. live action to toys vs. models: you don't expect as much from a toy in terms of detail and accuracy as long as it plays well. It's a lowered expectations game much in the vein of "Clone Wars" which, animation-wise, pretty much sucked but story-wise was a lot of fun. I hope they do it.

I weep for the franchise if THIS is what they think we want.........

I don't think we should say its garbage until we have seen it and can conclusively judge it.

Also, wouldn't an animated Trek series also appeal to a younger generation, thereby having the potential to create a new generation of Trek fans? Perhaps that is the real strategy behind this.

If they keep it at the adult level (no "cadets" and what-not) and employ good up and coming sci-fi writers as well as some vets, it may be quite good.

How would all of you feel about a series called: Star Trek Babies?

Maybe while Sarek and his Earthling wife were newlyweds, they used the same childcare center that was used by Kirk's, Scott's, Sulu's, and McCoy's parents......Hmmmmm.......Maybe they just didn't remember each other later as adults because they were so young then......

You forget how old Spock is compared to the other characters. ;)

CBS/ Paramount would do well to borrow a page from Lucas' Clone Wars play-book.

I believe all the internal evidence points to him being a few years older than Kirk. If you consider the animated series (the original, of course) canon, I believe they gave his exact age in the episode where he travels back in time to save his younger self. It's been years since I saw it, but I seem to remember them stating he was in his mid- to late thirties. Can anyone with the DVD set confirm this?

It's a cartoon for children, based on a forty year old TV show for children. Not worth devoting a lot of brain cells to, imho.

'Sides, I heard Gene Roddenberry claimed he invented the internet.

Spock was indeed only a bit older than Kirk in TOS. I'm basing that off of the rather concise information contained at Ex Astris Scientia's TOS Characters Page (http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/database/tos-characters.htm). Scroll down to Spock's entry and you'll see that they've back-dated it from TNG.
