Any suggestions? noddaz 12-14-2006, 05:35 PM Can you solder? DustinSS 12-14-2006, 07:50 PM Absolutely, watch ya got? BRS Hobbies 12-15-2006, 06:27 PM The best price on power supplies is from etronics.com. Here is the link - http://www.etronics.com/listproducts.asp?store=&catid=4071 The PS-7KX is rated at 5 amps which is plenty of power for a 2 lane track and the PS-12KX is rated at 12 amps which is perfect for a 4 lane track. These are fixed voltage power supplies rated at 13.8 vdc. If you want an adjustable voltage power supply. I recommend the PS-26KX. The adjustable voltage power supply are good for turning down the voltage for beginners or racing some cars without the traction magnet. The cars are easier to drive at around 12 volts. Both power supplies are really well made and offer much improved performance over the stock Artin power supply. That was the sort of thing I was going to suggest..... DustinSS 12-15-2006, 11:49 PM Excellent, so will this provide me enough power to run a two lane artin track with scalectrix cars? BRS Hobbies 12-16-2006, 12:09 AM More than enough power to run Scalextric slot cars and eliminate any power surges between lanes. Best regards, Brian DustinSS 12-16-2006, 12:19 AM Thanks guys RMMseven 12-19-2006, 07:41 PM This is an excellent upgrade for ALL brands of 1/32 & 1/24 scale slot car track. Most power supplies that come with race sets have too few amps (like the Artin) and voltage that is too high for good control. So a power upgrade will relly help with surges and other control issues. Everyone that has run on my track has immediately purchased a new power supply. Gouda 12-29-2006, 02:37 PM This is a a questions I have been looking for some more info on as well. The link to the PS's is very helpfull. For me specifically however, lets see what you all think. I have a Carrera Pro-X track about 28 ft long. I am going to expand it to a more permament track with a total length of about 60 ft. I keep reading that more power is needed, but it's been very difficult to figure out exactly how to do this. I have seen people suggest using additional PS', but have found no help on how to really do this. The whole idea I think is to have less drop at the most distant part of the track. It seems that just adding a higher amp supply would still have the same issue (??). I think a digital track adds some more difficulty in doing this, but that's just a thought. Any help is appreciated. DustinSS 12-30-2006, 02:12 AM So, how do I need to hook this up for my 2 lane artin track? I'm assuming use the same power base, cut the transformer, then, combine those 4 wires into 2 and then go into the positive then negative part of my new power supply? (I have the one listed previously...pyramid ps-7kx) Thanks DustinSS 12-30-2006, 09:58 AM Nevermind, I looked @ the link again! :) BRS Hobbies 12-31-2006, 12:09 PM Gouda, Do you have the newer 3.5 amp PRO-X power supply? It should provide enough power for 4 cars. To ensure good power around the track, I recommend using some carbon conductive grease at each track joint and 1 to 3 Carrera jumper wires. Attach the jumper wires from the black box to different areas around the track. You can count the track joints and divide it out so you have the jumpers evenly spaced around the track.
