View Full Version : Best AirBrush?
RCRacer45s 12-13-2006, 10:34 PM I did a quick search and didn't really come up with anything great. I figured i would post this up in the oval section cause us oval guys seem to like to have our cars in top looking order. I have done some real nice paint schemes w/ a rattle can and have been told i can rattle can better than most airbrushers (it just takes alot more masking for me) So whats good for an airbrush..manufacturer...features...ease of use. What compressor to use? Thanks for the help.
SuperXRAY 12-13-2006, 11:09 PM Iwata.
killerkoncepts 12-13-2006, 11:45 PM i have an iwata...but if your lookin for a complete setup faskolor has a great airbrush and compressor..i have both of those as well..the f1 airbrush works really well
SHAKY DAVE 12-14-2006, 02:08 PM Paasche VL.Inexpensive, works good, sprays laquer good(with the biggest needle & nozzle)and everything is in the box except for a compressor.
PUF19 12-14-2006, 02:36 PM I use the Faskolor F1, it is easy to use, and easy to take apart/clean
it is all crome, not plastic....
competionpark 12-14-2006, 03:45 PM is the badger brush any good. they have one with 3 needles all the hoses dual action anybody know about them
MikeNum8 12-14-2006, 04:15 PM The badger is an ok airbrush. The Pashe VL is great for the starter. But if you want easy to use, great painting, and great quality go with Iwata. I have 7 airbrushes. 4 are iwata. I never use my pashe's anymore.
erock1331 12-14-2006, 05:22 PM I have the Paasche VL (comes in a nice wooden box).
I think I just never learned how to use it right because I could never get any of the other needles to work right other than the one it came with. Also the compressor I had did not have a regulator on it, nor the thing that takes the condensation out, so that may have been my issue.
I finally killed it when i accidentally mixed water based paint to acrylic. whoops
lol
A buddy of mine that painted a lot of killer rc bodies swore by the Iwata
ksg_41 racing 12-14-2006, 05:37 PM iwata
SuperXRAY 12-14-2006, 06:55 PM I have one other thing to input here....I would not purchase an Iwata if you want to specifically spray Faskolor, as it is thick and will need to be thinned, which destroys its effective adhesion. I switched to Pactra Acryl when I bought my Iwata and what a world of difference. The Pactra Acrylic, not the spray can stuff...it MUST say Acryl on it else it is junk. The Acryl paint is much thinner than Faskolor, although I like the adhesion properties of Faskolor better. Just some thoughts...you really need to think about what you are going to spray through it...
I always filter my paint into the airbrush cup, as the tiniest glob of gook will clog an airbrush. You can pick up Fine and SuperFine filters pretty cheap at most auto parts stores.
kropy 12-14-2006, 06:59 PM Iwata.
MikeNum8 12-14-2006, 08:47 PM i use fascolor with no problem at all in my iwata. I do not thin it out at all.
Torinogt1971 12-15-2006, 10:34 AM MikeNum8- Which Iwata do you use with Faskolor? My Passche VL does not do Faskolor well at all. My Passche H does a better job, but fine lines are very tough to do. Will an Iwata do very fine lines without causing my blood pressure to raise? I do not want to spend $150 + or - just to find out that my $50 Passche does the same kind of job. Thanks in advance for any advise.
MikeNum8 12-15-2006, 06:01 PM i have the iwata HPS and it does fine lines. I recomend to thin with a dropper 1 drop of water for real fine lines. use the small cup.
