View Full Version : RC Racer needs our help
MK Race 12-12-2006, 10:34 PM Hey guys and gals, one of our fellow RC Oval racers has fallin on some really hard times right now and surely could use our help.
His name is Matt Bayless from Springfield Mo. Matt has had a terrible year with his health and other things and now his Father has passed away. Money in the family is real tight now with all the funeral expenses and could use a little help.
I have known Matt for almost 10 years now and can say him and his family are some of the nicest people you could meet. Always ready to help anybody any chance they would get.
I posted this on the track thread hoping that maybe our tracks could get together and pass the hat to take up a little collection for his family. I might even be able to come up with some kind of prize package to get to the track that donates the most.
It sure seems like it has been a tough year for the RC community this year with all the loses we have had, but with Hanks help with the Forum, the community has grown very big. Hopefully this will be the last for the year.
So what do you think? Can we give this guy some help?
There is a memorial fund setup now.

MK Race 12-12-2006, 10:36 PM Here is a posting from the SROC thread where Matt hangs around.
Serious bad news
Just got the bad news that Matt Bayless's dad "Mike" passed away today.
Mike had set-up and organized the Missouri Hall of Fame races series and was hosting/racing the 2006 dirt oval event. while driving in the A-main today, he suffered a heart attack and passed away. he was in his mid 50's
Mike was the one who helped obtain city land usage for a offroad track back in the 80's and brought the first ROAR event to Missouri.
Matt is currently assisting his mom, and it appears finances may come short in burial, etc, expenses.

MK Race 12-14-2006, 01:01 AM I talked to Matt tonight and he is going to setup a Memorial Fund at a local bank in Springfield.
His Dad was one of the nicest people you could meet. Going to be hard to replace him with all the effort that he put into RC racing in the Springfield MO area.
Updated on first post.
MK Race 12-14-2006, 11:03 PM I've posted the info for donations on the first post.
wildman 12-14-2006, 11:38 PM I have known mike and matt for almost 10yrs these guys would give the shirts off their backs to help someone. we are donating all the racing proceeds from s-roc this weekend to the bayless family. I hope anyone that can make a donation will. Some think we just race toy cars but it is more than that, its friendships community and support in time of need.

Guys I buried my Dad yesterday . What a wonderful man he was and I know with all the good he did , he has it made now in heaven . I hope he can put a good word in for me . And the support of you guys was greatly appreciated and needed . Wow you guys are awesome I am going to make it back just need to take a couple weeks and get my head straight . My goal to be back is the first weekend in January . My Dad told me something one time at the race track . Car was great but I was fedup having trouble finding the correct line . And I think this applies to life to . " One more time just like you've done a million times before . You'll get right ."
