Are you referring to one particular body, or the cars in general? Maybe one of the collectors book, like the one Bob Beers sells has answers.

Didn't have a particular body style in mind, just the overall number. I was curious since there seems to be a fairly steady stream of them for sale on e-Bay, some of which are bringing big prices.

I have a decent collection most of which I acquired back in the 80's and know several others with nice collections as well and was just trying to get an idea.

Welcome hocomp,

The prices you see on Ebaaa are an illusion. Better to list your collections here on this board and we will make sure those cars find good homes at fair prices.

Muhuhahaha...

Maybe 6 or so years ago when I was working down in NJ,there was an old mom and pop variety store that I used to go to.

The downstairs part of the store is where they had the hardware section as well as the fishing tackle and toy department.

At any rate,in the toy department where the checkout was they had a small glass display case.

LOADED with ORIGINAL AFX Mag TRac and G Plus cars. For like less then 20 bucks a pop each.

At the time, slot racing to me was setting up a track every now and then on the living room floor with my son.

I now wish I would have grabbed a bunch of them.

Thanks, TK Solver. :-)

Interesting, Racer X. Sad there aren't many of those kinds of places around anymore. If only we could take a step back in time knowing what we know now.

I went into an old hobby shop down in FL while I was there 20+ years ago, and it was one in which everything was fairly disorganized, kind of like an old surplus store where you had to step over and around stuff to get down the aisles. Dust everywhere. What wasn't stacked to the ceiling was on the floor. Well, to make a long story short, I discovered a green Sugar Daddy Datsun #166 promo car in a glass case and gave only $20 for it. There's one listed on e-bay right now at $255 w/3 days to go. It was a good find to say the least.

when me and my high school buddies returned to slot racing around 1990 my local "Tony's Hobby shop" had a bunch of vw bugs on the card, red ones and white, and a few cards of red willies.
we laughed at the "faggy" little flower cars and bought one red willys (to race against the one blue one we had)
remember, there was no ebay/internet in 1990 yet (or it wasn't in full swing yet)

It was the old Rockaway Sales in Sparta.

Walmart came to town and drove them out of town.

Actually, there were two of them. There was another in Franklin.I remember going there with my dad in the late '60's and he would but my brother and I Matchbox cars. The old regular wheel ones that came in the little boxes.

They just went out of biz in the last 6 years ago.Sad to see them go.

On a similar note, the drug store here in town that has been around for like 900 years used to have Super Fast MB's from the late '70's for sale in one of those spinning display cases.I bought a few of them.

That is still around, but they up graded three years ago and took out the old soda fountain and lunch counter.

That was a cool little place too.Like stepping back into the 1950's when you walked in there.

Sadly, time marches on,and they "modernized" to compete with the CVS and Eckerdts here in town.
