OK, I have been getting pounded over the last week or so about this so I thought I should make a post to let everyone know that Sometime around the 1st of the year the Windtunnel Stut front End will be avaiable. It is the old TRC front end that is much like the Associated that is is currently in wide use with car companies and etc. Many of you may remember it, some may not. I am currently working on a slight material change to improve on what was alread a good thing as well as working on drawings for Aluminum caster blocks.
My plans at this time are to not only have it available to the public but for OEM use as well and with parts from associated getting harder and harder to get this may be a good time for the release. Im also working on a project of my own that this will be used on as well. Plans are to have a basic kit or a "pro" kit that will have all the goodies. Here are some shots below to refresh everyone memory on what it is for sure. Any questions feel free to ask away and Ill do my best to assist you with answers. Also, the pictured was rather quickly put together for these shots so it may not look perfect and some old parts were used just to complete it for now.

Can't wait. I loved that front end on my old TRC Disruptor back in the day. Keep us updated. My suggestion would be to try to make it as adjustable as the IRS caster blocks.
Thanks

Will you have an option with something similiar to the Trinity Reactive Caster? New upper eyelet, dual upper camber rods, connecting graphite top plate, and various length ball studs?

Doubtfull that I will do anything like the trinity front end. But the aluminum caster blocks that are being worked on will have a larger range of movement than the standard nylon.

As for the question above in regards to making it adjustable as the IRS caster block, this front end is already capable of doing that. All you need to do is turn the caster block around and the rate of camber gain is slowed or sped up depending on which direction it is sitting. That was one of the great features as well as being able to change roll center of the upper a arm by only using shims under the caster block. Not to mention also that the 0 degree caster block has two holes for raising or lowering the upper arm already as well. So in many ways this front end had its high points out of the box (so to say) compared to the associated

Aluminum caster block will have that same, plus other features as well

Still use that front end on some of my cars to this day! Superior to the Assc. and as good as most aftermarket kits. Some early kits were made with 4-40 screws to fasten the uprights, after that TRC switched to 5-40 screws that were much stronger. I noitoced that the X-brace support hole was not drilled. will the new unit be drilled? It is a nice option if you run a brace, people dont realise how much these front ends flex/bend without a brace.

All holes will be in the production front ends including the cross brace. I have made material changes that has greatly improved the little flaws this front end had. All the good characteristics have stayed the bad appear to be gone. Further testing will tell me more for sure but all signs are very good right now. the better part will be that as many of you know, it will be available. No shortages once full production is in place.

Rob this is great. One question? what type of blocks will you be making? The best castor blocks I think are the hyperdrive ones that allow you all control with castor adjustment with out using those plastic shims that wear out over time, not only that but taking the time to install and using small eclips that you WILL lose. any chance of something like those being used. adding a collar on each end of the rod. Just a suggestion.

Aluminum caster blocks are in design that will have a large range of movement like the Hyperdrive does. I have had my own upper hinge pin desined for months but have not started producing it yet. At this time, it is designed without e-clips.

Yes it will work on 1/12th cars. It fits anything that the associated will.
