View Full Version : JL's. New and Vintage/Kalamazoo, MI toy Show
VWowner 12-04-2006, 12:08 PM It's always great to hear about the travels of fellow HT members who get together and go to some great toy shows. Every year Kevin (Ozmont), Ron Easton (Owner of the green w/flames VW bug w/ the stinger), and myself travel to several in our area. All three of us collect a variety of JL's, and Ron and I always look for that rare VW piece. It's great to find a toy you have never seen before but it's OUCH because they usually come with a price tag to match. The great thing about toy shows is the ability to haggle with the vendor.

It's not too often you see Zamboni toy's. What a great thing to start to collect. Alot of Zamboni's used industrial VW air cooled engines. The new ones use the VW 2.0 motor now. Ron Easton works on the local Ice Rink's Zamboni. I should get some pict's of that.

VWowner 12-04-2006, 01:04 PM Well, at the end of a long day you have to search out the most interesting spots to quench one's thirst and to feed one's belly. Ron Kevin and I had a great day and found some great stuff. I never thought to take my camera before and now I will always have it to share the show with you all.

Race Ready! 12-04-2006, 06:39 PM VWOWNER. I haven't chatted much but that show looks great. My parents live in grass lake about 2 hours east of Kalamazoo. Next year if you go let me know and I can shoot over. It would be cool to meet someone from the site.
MissouriMike 12-05-2006, 01:57 AM If I found a toy show like that it would seriously test my willpower, then my wallet, then my marriage!

I know, it's like being a kid in a candy store. Do you spend it all on one, spread it out, or just say the heck with it and get it all. I did pass on the Buddy L bus and bought more items including the decanter. Soooooo my wife said when I got home and displayed the loot and showed her the pict's, you should have got the bus as well.......Now I know why I love her so much. The same dealer will be there again. If not, oh well, something to search for.
rwwcarguy 12-05-2006, 10:13 AM Wow, that looks like it was a fun place to stroll through.
Thanks for sharing all of the pictures.

Mark Hosaflook 05-14-2007, 01:16 PM What looked like a locked in date is now day to day for me. If I get our rental ok'ed for move in, I'll be busting my butt on boxes Saturday. If not I'm there in flying colors. If I get it before Saturday rest assurd I'll be pulling late nights to get ahead of the curve so I can take Saturday morning off.
Right now, it's a coin flip.
