View Full Version : New American Graffiti cars out
montegogt 11-30-2006, 09:57 AM Saw some new AG cars at Wally's last night. 71 Chevy Impala in 2 diff colors, 77 Chevy Caprice in 2 diff colors & 78 T-Bird in off-white with medimum brown landau roof or mint green with dark green landau.
I bought the T-Birds.
zed300 11-30-2006, 12:04 PM 78 T-Bird!!! Do you have any pictures?
craftymore 11-30-2006, 03:29 PM Are these 1/64 scale or larger? The 71 Imp and the 76 Caprice were released previously as hideous high riders. The t-bird would be a new casting as I have never seen one before.

MoparNut360 11-30-2006, 04:54 PM The t-bird sounds cool,hope to see it soon.
montegogt 11-30-2006, 06:27 PM (zed300) 78 T-Bird!!! Do you have any pictures?
Unforunately I dont and neither does Motor Max.
It's well done for the price though.

These are 1/64th scale with flames on either the 71 or 76 .I cant remember which.
wildbill63 11-30-2006, 06:35 PM Hope my Wally's got 'em! I do believe that they will have a new home!
jimhowie2000 12-01-2006, 10:30 AM I haven't found any of these yet but would like all of 'em. I have been to 4 different Wal-Mart Supercenters within a 30 mile radius of my home and none of them seem to put out any new stock.
carnut2256 12-01-2006, 12:36 PM I still, for the life of me, can't understand why there are cars built in the 70's and later in this "American Graffiti" set....... I'm glad the castings are available, don't get me wrong, but how in the world do they get tied into the movie theme????
MoparNut360 12-01-2006, 11:35 PM Same reason why they have a '05 300-c and a hummer H1 in their 1/24 scale line of american graffiti.
edseldave 12-02-2006, 05:05 AM I found them too ! Both the Chevys had flames . Dont look right on a 70's Impala ... Although car color might have something to do with it , they are gold , Dk red , brown & black . Not as good a flame job as JLs ...
I bought the T-birds too . They need whitewall tires too improve them , but doubt Motormax will do that ...
jimhowie2000 12-02-2006, 08:34 AM I have noticed that almost everyone who has found these at Wal-Mart is from Illlinois or Wisconsin.........guess Wally World is starting from the center of the country and branching outward with new stock? All 4 that I have visited within the past week had nothing new except some new Hot Wheels cars.
97XR7 12-02-2006, 10:08 AM Got them here in IN, only thing I picked up was the orange GTO.
montegogt 12-02-2006, 04:04 PM The ones I got were in Michigan.
montegogt 12-02-2006, 04:10 PM 78 T-Bird!!! Do you have any pictures?

MoparNut360 12-03-2006, 11:19 AM Do these come apart with screws? I will have to pick up a few of these whenever I find em and customize them to my standards (aka ugly 70's colors to fit the character of the cars.)

Yes, they are held together with screws.

MoparNut360 12-03-2006, 02:31 PM I went out to one walmart and actually found these cars today. I got both t-birds and one caprice. I'll probably get an impala another time.
diecastbum07 12-03-2006, 06:03 PM i dont think that car needs frickin WHITE WALLS on it at all ! you guys must not be white if yall are going round saying that man ... i mean only white folks i know who say that are gangsters, elderly , and teens ! im 23 yrs old and i would even think of whitewalls on that car
MoparNut360 12-03-2006, 06:07 PM I really like the wheels on the t-birds,as well as the ones on the caprice.
Blingy 12-03-2006, 09:45 PM Those T-Birds are looking HOT!!!!!
RobDog 12-04-2006, 10:26 PM i dont think that car needs frickin WHITE WALLS on it at all ! you guys must not be white if yall are going round saying that man ... i mean only white folks i know who say that are gangsters, elderly , and teens ! im 23 yrs old and i would even think of whitewalls on that car
oh great, we just get rid of one mental midget and a member of the KKK slips in.
Who left the door open?
RobDog 12-04-2006, 10:30 PM Florida just got em in.
at two bucks a pop,it's the cheapest way I know, to get quality donor wheels.
jimhowie2000 12-05-2006, 08:55 AM i dont think that car needs frickin WHITE WALLS on it at all ! you guys must not be white if yall are going round saying that man ... i mean only white folks i know who say that are gangsters, elderly , and teens ! im 23 yrs old and i would even think of whitewalls on that car
First of all..........Both the t-Birds, Impalas and Caprices WOULD look good with whitewalls because that is what 99.9% of them had when they were new. secondly, we are not talking wide whites here, just the narrow style whitewall commonly found on most cars in the 60's and 70's. Thirdly, I think that you had no trouble voicing your opinion, let someone else have theirs.
60sMetal 12-08-2006, 06:00 PM Wow - I have yet to see those. I like the T-birds alot!
STUTZ 12-08-2006, 06:23 PM oh great, we just get rid of one mental midget and a member of the KKK slips in.

That is TOO FUNNY Rob! :p
summitdrinker 12-09-2006, 11:51 AM I was at a walmart a few days ago, wanted the white T-bird, there weren't any, there most of the others, I let them all go except for the gto judge

jimhowie2000 12-19-2006, 03:38 AM Well, I FINALLY found both the Chevy's and the T-Birds! Thing is, they still do not have any in the 4 Wal-Mart's within 1-30 miles of my house, here in central Ohio. I found all of them at the Wal-Mart in Reno, NV on my vacation this past weekend. The pictures do not do these castings justice, they look much better in the metal!
[QUOTE=jimhowie2000]I have noticed that almost everyone who has found these at Wal-Mart is from Illlinois or Wisconsin.........guess Wally World is starting from the center of the country and branching outward with new stock?[QUOTE]
I found the '71 and "'77" (actually '76) big Chevies and the '78 Thunderbird here in Arkansas at Wal Mart.
snowman66 12-21-2006, 12:51 AM Too bad you didn't have pitures of the caprice and impala I have both cars and can get them and the ThunderBirds this week-end if our wal mart still has them. They did today when I was there.
stanmmx 12-23-2006, 01:59 PM Dear All:
Nice to see pictures of the Ford Thunderbird;trully a nice miniature, thanks.
I went to a Wal Mart three days ago and I was not able to find any of the Chevys (even the 'monster truck' type) or the Ford.Of course,I want the 'normal' height Chevrolets.
What I found on a CVS Pharmacy was the Jeep Commander. An excellent casting for its price (lots of details).
mn_dodgeboy 12-31-2006, 10:06 PM The T Birds look good. :)
60sMetal 01-01-2007, 12:24 AM Hope they are starting to get to more markets. They all look pretty good.
snowman66 01-01-2007, 08:41 AM Saw some new AG cars at Wally's last night. 71 Chevy Impala in 2 diff colors, 77 Chevy Caprice in 2 diff colors & 78 T-Bird in off-white with medimum brown landau roof or mint green with dark green landau.
I bought the T-Birds.
We could of seen that one coming, Montegott!!!!!!!

Both T-birds are awsome cars, Wish I would of picked them up when I had the chance.
Diecast Camaro Collector 01-02-2007, 12:06 PM Saw those at the Walmart where I live.
