jbell31 11-29-2006, 10:18 PM I'd make that 2 - 4 times a year. Looking forward to the new track!!!
The Monkey 11-30-2006, 05:49 PM Well construction will begin this coming Monday. It will continue throughout the winter so it may be paved in the spring. We should be up and running May 5, 2007. :dude:
A web site was made just for the new track
I will give out the info just as soon as the host gets the domain name, so I may upload the site. You will be able to watch as its being built, this should help you get through the winter months. Feel free to add any constructive criticism as we move through the process. I look forward to meeting a lot of you this coming summer.
Alloyparts 11-30-2006, 05:58 PM Sounds great, I look forward to racing next season, I know there is a couple guy's here in New York that will be there as often as we can.
Keep us posted on the progress
Fred AKA Alloyparts
jbell31 11-30-2006, 06:18 PM Just added blurb about the new track on our website. When your website is up, I'll setup a link to it as well.
The Monkey 11-30-2006, 06:32 PM Cool thank you :dude:
ULTRARACE 11-30-2006, 06:56 PM well i know i will be there racin thats like 15 away from my house and besides i will have to setup freddies car for him anyway
The Monkey 11-30-2006, 07:14 PM Yeah we need to get it to run good enough to let eric wheel it around. You know he might just fit in it   He knows I love him :)
Freddie's Hobbies 12-01-2006, 04:49 PM Well thank you for showing interest. I mentioned earlier this will be a new track. I will start cutting drains this coming week. During the winter months we will building the drivers stand, scoring building. We will have the track ready for paving by April of 2007. After its paved we will put the finishing touches on it and make it available to all of you. The web site www.freddiesasphaltoval.com should be up and running by next Monday or Tuesday. I am ready to up load, just waiting on the hosting company to get the domain name switched.
Feel free to scope out the pics and ask question through out the building process.
Tim Mc 12-01-2006, 06:50 PM What degree of banking? Are you building it to resemble another 1/4 scale track? How wide will pitroad be? Will there be a grass strip between the asphalt and wall, if so how wide?
Thanks,
Tim
Freddie's Hobbies 12-01-2006, 07:21 PM Its going to be basically the Dallas -Fort Worth Track only longer. The banking is going to depend on my fall to the drainage run off. I will have that measurement by the middle of next week. We are going to clear the trees Monday so the surveyor can come and lay it out. He will be able to tell me my fall then. I am going to cut the track into the ground. We should be looking at a 7 -10 degree bank. The pit road is scheduled to be 6 feet wide with no grass area between it. Basically a 4 foot chain link fence between it and the track. There will be 2X12s running along the straights with them protruding beyond the turns with at least a 10 foot grass runoff off each turn before the 2 X 12's go around. You should be slow enough by the time you slide up 25 feet run across 10 feet of grass and then hit the wall not to brake to much. What do you think ?
Sonny B 12-01-2006, 07:39 PM Sounds awesome. I would probably make a trip or two out that way next summer.
Tim Mc 12-01-2006, 08:59 PM Sounds great! I like the 10 degrees. Not to much, but enough to have a second groove. Paint the inside of the turns with the slickest thing you can find. Keep'em honest ...LOL
Look forward to seeing the progress in pics. It is always nice to hear of a track being opened, not being closed.
Keep us posted
Tim

No to worry though it will be well worth the drive I can assure you of that
sprint2b 12-03-2006, 10:45 AM The track sounds awsome. Do you have any intentions of running sprints there occationally?? I could count 3 from Pa.
Freddie's Hobbies 12-03-2006, 11:35 AM I am going to run this track just as I do my inside track. Its there for all of us to have fun ! :hat:
I start at a certain time I run a tight ship no playing around and boom ! three qualifying heats, a main and we are done , and then the track is open to do what ever anyone wants. I even started racing again afterwards a few times. We are already here why not. We will run Sprints, 1/10 scale pan cars, 1/10 scale touring cars 3 or more cars make a class simple. Bring your toys and lets enjoy them.

IN2RACIN 12-04-2006, 02:56 PM Freddie - Did u start working on the new track today? April will be here before you know it!!
Freddie's Hobbies 12-04-2006, 03:11 PM Yes I am, I am on my trusty stead, a big Cat D5 and I am clearing the way for the drains. I had the city down here about an hour ago there carrying the city drain down another 200 feet and giving me a tie in for the track drain. Did I mention its flipping cold out side :)
I also Talked to Jim this morning and made sure I get my two Pro 1's for the store and support parts. I am going to make sure the store always has at least 2 cars in stock, plus their support parts. I have about 8 real people with $$$ waiting for them. We will make this sport grow
IN2RACIN 12-04-2006, 04:38 PM WOW!! ......... You are a man on the MOVE!!!
ULTRARACE 12-04-2006, 04:58 PM WOW!! ......... You are a man on the MOVE!!!

Freddie's Hobbies 12-04-2006, 06:09 PM I am in for the night. Its cold but I am dressed for it no biggy. We have our drain plan, just need to order the pipe and catch basins. The city is putting it in their plans to put a 3 foot catch basin in, and a tie in for me in the next week or so. In the mean while I will be clearing the way to make it easier for us to work.
LetsRace 12-06-2006, 01:03 PM Oh yeah. this sounds AWSOME.!!
can't wait . i'll be there every chance i get.
jac
Freddie's Hobbies 12-06-2006, 05:13 PM What a joke this web site has been. You must use the www. for 60 days ? Don't ask. The Tracks web site is www.freddiesasphaltoval.com I will be putting up pictures and keeping it updated as I move along.
jbell31 12-06-2006, 09:46 PM LOL Freddie. It's not that bad. Looks very good!!! You got a great start and it looks like the popularity of the track is gaining momentum.
Freddie's Hobbies 12-06-2006, 10:08 PM Thank you, Its just to bad I messed up my online store in the process. I didn't look where I was signed in at, and when I was switching the DNS. I was in the wrong account. I will work on the site more now that it is up. We should have some construction pictures up next week. Stay tuned, and thanks for the compliment :)
Tim Mc 12-06-2006, 10:36 PM I agree with Jim..looks nice. I like the color scheme. Nothing like watching the birth of a new track unfold. Keep us posted with pics and progress!
Tim
Freddie's Hobbies 12-07-2006, 10:37 AM Thank you Tim, its not as nice as your site is yet, but all in time.
I took a look at your track VERY nice. If mine comes out as nice as your, which I am thinking its going to, both Alabama and Ohio will have killer tracks :)
Freddie's Hobbies 12-12-2006, 08:20 PM Curious minds would like to know. How important are RV hook ups ?
Most of you come self contained am I correct ? I would if I went some ware.
I just looked at a few sites and I saw some big rigs. If I had 35 amp plugs set up would I attract more people ? yes or no ?
Now's the time, I need to put them in tell me now :)
I will have pics up of what's been going on by Friday stay tuned
Freddie's Hobbies 12-12-2006, 08:22 PM By the way just to let you all know as of right now 4 months / 23 days / 16 hours / and 39 min. until the start of the first race
Tim Mc 12-12-2006, 09:23 PM Freddie,
I'm sorry I missed your post above. I appreciate your thoughts on our site. I try my best :)
LPR is a nice track. I can't take credit for the building of it. That happened just before my time. I joined a couple years after it opened. There have been many good club members that gave money, blood, sweat & tears to get it the way it looks now.
I hope to make it up to Ohio to run on your track. If I have to go up to Cleveland anytime in 07 for meetings, I will try to work a visit into my schedule.
I will add a track link on our site back to yours.
Tim
Freddie's Hobbies 12-13-2006, 11:00 AM Well the first of the construction pics are up on the page only one dont get to excited :p
jbell31 12-13-2006, 08:52 PM Hey Freddy, I am excited! Looks like a lot of work, but I can see it coming together.
As for the hookups, I agree that most of us are self contained, but it would be nice, not a requirement. Just having a 120, 35A outlet in a few places would make a worrld of difference. You wouldn't hear a lot of generators that way.
I can't say that you would get a lot of big rigs in at the same time, but the outlets would get used...
aracefan3 12-13-2006, 09:26 PM put some power outlets out there. We need power for chargers, fans for the heat and some lights. We need to have the track lit up so we can run mains under the lights.
Freddie's Hobbies 12-14-2006, 10:06 AM I already had in the plans for normal 120 outlets around. I am hopping by the end of summer to have a pavilion up with tables and outlets in there for the 1/10 scale guys. All in time grasshoppers.
I think I am going to make provisions for the RV hook ups on the south side of the track, and just go with 3-4 for opening day on the north side of the track. Thank you all for your input, keep up the good work. I need to here things
IN2RACIN 12-14-2006, 11:22 AM Having RV hook ups would be a nice bonus for some. Good point John, I for one need a fan on those hot days, even while driving (Drivers stand). If Fred starts at noon or 1pm you won't need lights!! LOL Well, maybe he will, with all the racers that will be there!
SG
aracefan3 12-14-2006, 08:34 PM Ok how about a pit area with A/c. I am getting old and need the comforts...
Freddie's Hobbies 12-14-2006, 08:50 PM A/C hook ups Your asking the wrong guy. or are you telling me you will come race once in a while ? ha ha god I kill me
aracefan3 12-14-2006, 09:04 PM i will be there opening day. Lets roll...
Freddie's Hobbies 12-14-2006, 09:07 PM Thats what I like to here BABY !
