Here's a diecast conversion from a Hotwheels "Bone Shaker". Some HW castings just aren't suitable for converting into any kind of slot car body. Then again others show potential and are just begging to be pulled more towards a real world looking car. I stripped away all of the ghastly plastic goo-ga's and gold chrome crap (really enjoyed taking off the skull/radiator deal). What was left was what looked like a real hotrod body that somebody might have "jaloppified" back in the late 50's early 60's. I filled all 3 of the holes (hood, roof, bed) and ground it out to fit a tjet chassis. A little gearplate trimming helped too. New parts curtesy of... Dash Super Modified (I never got around to putting together) for the headers with aluminum tube extensions, JL Calendar car radiator, balsa and aluminum rear frame, and a piece cut from a pair of nylon stockings (sorry sweetie hope those weren't yer good'uns) that I super glued to the bed to simulate a textured tonneau cover. Tried a few different kinds of wheels, but ended up liking the old school hotrod hubs with the holes drilled out a bit and tall whitewalls.

Thanks for looking... Dave Martin

Nice work Dave. It really looks cool. Thanks for all the detail in you description. I need some headers like that for something I'm working on now. Now I know where to get them.

Dave!
I am very pleased that you took the time to post that truck. Even if it is diecast, it is still a super piece of engineering and every bit a true custom slotcar as any other plastic/resin bodied car. (plus, it looks super cool and tough!)

When I joined HT 2 years ago, I had done several DC conversions. A few people (who are no longer here) "bah-humbugged" me in slot chat BECAUSE mine were DC. That was part of my push towards learning resin .(for the challenge in modeling ect) I am glad that those people are nolonger part of HT to stiffle the tallent of men like yourself and VideoJimmy. You guys have great skills and I feel fortunate to see the results of your efforts! Vision, skill, engineering, development, exicution. You have the beast by the horns, mate!

Cool Van.... it looks like it's powered by a JL tuff ones chassis. Those little guys have a lot of power. I've used a lot of them for my conversions.

yea, its a j.l. tuff one, sometimes their so fast/quircky/jumpy, the diecast body's weight is enough to calm it down a bit.
