A new track opened up in Bettendorf Iowa. It has a carpet oval, seperate onroad track. Very large facility. These guys did a awesome job putting this together. The oval track is 36x70, with a 130 to 135 foot runline. I raced there yesterday. Its awesome. Its been a long time comin for the quad cities. Im sure this track will survive. Gas stations and fast food in walking distance. Ive been begging these guys to rent me a room.. Im trying to find a job in the qcs. Im sellin my house, givin my dog away, gunna live at the track....

Last weekend was great racing the traction is getting better. Tony mitchell pulled off a 81 lap qualifier in 4300. Soon to be 85 laps, when i use some new tires..

A Second Track In The Qc's Is Great In Theory. But When The New Track Decides To Operate On The Same Day As The Existing Track, What Is Accomplished. Right Now, You Have 8 Brushless Cars At Each Track 10 Minutes Away From Each Other At The Same Time. Tracks Could Be Operated On Different Days, Have 2 Race Days With Field Of 16. It Is Not The Tracks That Keep People Racing, It Is Car Count, And The Ability To Compete Against Others To Make The A-main. Right Now , I Could Pretty Much Give A-main Line-ups At Both Tracks Before Heats Were Ever Run. Everyone I Have Talked To Says It Is Idiotic To Have Both Tracks Trying To Run The Same Day. I Know That T/b Raceway Has Been Asked About This, They Try To Push It Off On Silvis, Saying They Consulted With Silvis, And The Silvis Race Day Would Be Was Changing To Saturday, Even Though Silvis Has Raced Sunday For 10 Years. They Have Also Been Telling People That The Galesburg Track Is Closed, When In Fact It Has Not. I Did Not Post This With The Intention Of Picking A Fight. The Goal Should Be To Gain New Racers, Not Compete Over Existing.

With the low oval car count we have in this area I can not understand why we needed another track and WHY do they want to run on the same day. I have nothing bad to say about the Twin Bridges race track in any way but 2 oval tracks suffered because of them. We have a oval dirt track running on Saturday, 2 oval carpet tracks running on Sunday and 1 wanting to run Thursday and Saturday night. There is just not enough cars to go around. The Touring cars needed a place to race and when I heard about the Twin Bridges track I thought that was what it was for. Now they want to run oval at the same time on the same day that Silvis has run for years and has killed the car count at both tracks. People may think I don't have a reason to complain but I will tell you this for sure. The bottom line is neither one can keep running things the way they are now and get any kind of a car count. With out racers there will be no need for tracks and we will be forced to drive 100 miles to race. That don't make any sense to me and to the people I have talked to. I would race both tracks with my oval cars IF it was where I could but if they are both going to run the same day I will stick with Silvis. Bottom line is I have YET to see a track owner get rich or even break even on a race track. Look at the tracks we used to race at and a lot of them are gone. I just hate to see oval racing gone in this area but the way things are going I am afraid that is where it is headed. Dave

We are from Quincy, Illinois we drive close to two hours just to get to the nearest track. I realize what some of you are saying about running on the same day. I think that would be a great problem to have. Don't take the tracks for granted. Try to work it out. Trust me, we race every week. I would be happy to switch with you guys, you can have our gas bill, as well as our thousands of hours wasted on the road. It costs us about 60.00 dollars a weekend (minimum) to race. Feel free to move a track closer to Quincy.

Try doing this for about 5 years. NO FUN!!!!
You might realize your problem isn't as bad as it seems.

I know $60 is only for gas not including racing and parts. I have no home track either. The only way i can get faster is by racing at big races. Having a good sized track in the qcs is what they have needed for years. You guys should see Koko now, hes kickin our butts. Im scared...

Nobody said that GALESBURG is not going to be open, I was their last night and had 5 cars. The only crying I hear is people at Silvis. If you like to bang off the walls and each other on a short track thats only around 100ft then thats fine. If you like a big onroad and oval track then come to Twin Bridges. Im keeping an eye on KOKO all he can do is to go faster and thats great to see :thumbsup: Your turn jenzo :wave:

theres no crying here. stating the fact that there should be two different days with a bunch of cars. we basically lost one regular. Figures your post would bad mouth silvis, but i guess it's not the first or last time i'll here it. my post was in regards to getting 2 race days, without commenting one way or other about either track. as to galesburg, i have talked to rob several times about his starting up and coming down. He told me you were no where to found. i have had at least five guys come in here and tell us that they had heard galesburg had closed. as for guys banging off each other and walls. that is driver not track. i've seen guys racing at twin bridges do their share of banging. were are now just as big as galesburg. you want to criticize him to.

last time i will post on your thread. i talked to crazy t earlier and we discussed some of these things. i just suggested 2 different race days so that people who race more than once a week(like me) could race both tracks. there are a handful of people that would do so. things are being said, that people relay back to us. heard from some one just last wed. that he was told we have closed track on sundays. i believe i have yet to say anything about tb. final 2 thoughts. never been about the money here. just about a place to race. finally, something that i have thought for years. there a guys that do have trouble racing here, most of them have coolers tucked under their tables, or spend to much time in the parking lot doing other things. i dont know who that could be, but i'm sure YOU can figure it out.

jenzo, my reference to guys banging was to the some of the racers at various tracks. not a reference to what goes on at tb. i think that is you are took such offense to. i've seen some of our local guys bang a silvis, dekalb, dubuque-wherever. that was my statement

The mix up here was at the beginning of the summer when I talked to Tim and told him about our intentions, I asked him if Silvis was still running on Sundays this winter. I know full well that they do and I have had many happy times there however Tim informed me that He wanted to run on Saturday nights because his guys had asked him about it, So I said ok then we would run Sundays as not to step on any toes and it was not our intention to do so. I really like Silvis and the owners however in the fall when I found out that Silvis was going to infact still run on Sundays our dates were already set and we had no other choice than to run on the same day. I don't like this back and forth stuff however for this year we are stuck with our dates. We have worked very hard getting this track operational and spent many thousands of $$$ and it's to late for us to change this year. As for getting rich and making money that also was not our intention. We just wanted to give our TC and oval drivers another place to come and race.
I hope in the future we can switch off days and get our counts up. As for Galesburg I myself heard from someone in our oval group that they were not going to run this year. We don't need to call each other names, and pass along things that we are not sure are true. I guess I may have said something to someone about Galesburg but my info came from someone very close to that track. Hank has givin' us a place to help each other not to air our feelings about one another.

13.5 Has struck the oval track.. There was a very tight group running today. Ive never had so much fun lately. Klyber won with a track record of 78 5.01. He would have done better if i wasnt on the track. We really dont know what happened to tony, but we had more fun than he did..

I also had a good time at Twin Bridges, Kevin certainly stepped it up in the Main.

I am sure glad to see all the Oval guys come and race at TB. Our trip to Dubuque was productive and I hope to see a lot of new faces in the future. Thanks to Dan Morgan, Danny White and Mark Steiner for letting us pass out our Postcards at the first on the first races. Also for you TC Guys we have new carpet coming in to replace the sad excuse for carpet on the TC Track. I can't wait. :wave:

The car turnout in this area was bad enough before the new track decided to race the same days as Silvis. I don't regret quitting racing after all these years at all. I can't believe the way you people talk about Tommy. He single handedly kept R/C racing active in the QC area for years.

Maybe I misunderstood your statement that said why don't you turn your race track into a storage room as positive. Simple fact: Tommy has been using the Sunday/Wednesday format for at least 15 years.Both tracks would get more cars if Twin Bridges had not decided,for whatever reason, to race on the same 2 days.

No fun. Two tracks that close would be great. No matter when they run!!!
Can't something be done between the two tracks to work together and change racing days for next year. There is always a solution, may not be the one you like, but I'm sure something can be done.

No BRL races the month of february. We will be there every sunday till Omaha. Cmon out, new track record for 4300 oval 84 laps. Lets go faster.. See what we can do for some 13.5 oval racing.

Next week we wont be there. Allens in springfield is having a big show. I know just like last week i go to a big race and we have the most drivers ever. Probably happen again. Oh well..

Im Jus tryin to stir up more oval racers for the next 2 weeks. It aint omaha, but its got some nice facilities. Soon to come hobbyshop.. Itll still be cold in april, brl racing will be over. Lets see if we can get some hot racin together..

Jenzo, Thanks for the Props on the Vid. Jake worked hard on that. We will come out with a newer version as soon as we get some new On Road Video. The last time we filmed it was to dark and nothing we had turned out very well. I had a great time Sunday. Raced 13.5 for the first time. I feel slow but it was a great time. I also want to thank Tommy and Jim D, and Old Fart for coming and racing with us. I do miss racing with the Silvis guys. It was a lot of fun. Had a lot of fun Sunday. We had a new track record set by Kevin Kliber. ( I think thats how you spell his name ). 80 laps with a 13.5. He was smokin' . I hope you all saw the Oval Video. I was a lot of fun to make. I have just posted the summer schedule. I am unsure of any oval guys who want to race. I sure would like to.
