We may have interest in starting a "fun" beginner type oval class in the Ohio area. My thought was to put together an oval car with some spare parts I have sitting on my R/C shelf. allot of us have "spare" R/C stuff that could be put to good use!

We have 2 oval track we can race at:
Classics and Freddies.

I have a RC10L4 with an atom ESC, extra receiver, old monster motor, and used BSR tires.

If you are interested in putting together a fun class to race and not sink a ton of $$$ into...post your thoughts!!!

Classics is in Akron
Freddies is in Ravenna

Both are part of the BRP points series. Many of the Hobbytown regulars have been to both tracks.

Take a look at the Spec Nastruck class that is ran at Freddies Hobbies:

If you have the above equipment your about ready to run in the Spec Nastruck class, all you would have to get is:

A Nastruck body, 4 cell Spec battery packs and, thats it!, You don't even need to buy a motor, the Hobbyshop supplies the motor w/entry fee.

That may be an option

We run one at our track. nastruck bodies, the clubs handout motor GM3, 3300 batteries max, 116 or 120 spur and 1.40 rollout.(Pros run like 1.60-1.70) any tire.
The class is great to watch because of the close racing. Hope this helps

Micro,

Your best bet would be to run in Freddies Spec truck class. There are enough classes without starting more. Walt would probably let the class run if enough show up but you would have to have your own motor.

what is s/k?
The s/k class is a spec class. The cars have a solid chassis (no rear suspension). All of your 10l type parts will mount up to the holes... Rear pod plates, front suspension, etc...
There are many variations of rules being run throughout the country. It basically depends on your area. Check out R/K Racing Products (http://www.rollskanardly.com) for more info.
These cars can be run with either 6 or 4 cells. Some rules only allow piranha packs with sealed 540 motors... others are basically open to roar motors and batteries. The bodies are cool looking open wheeled east coast modifieds, which can be purchased from a few different places. If you need more info, you can call me anytime, (203)980-0291
Thanks, Jon Anderson

Guys you realize we have a RTR oval pan car now don't you? It gives you everything you need to go racing in a very inexpensive yet competive way.

OK, how about a basic setup. Something general because were looking at a variety of cars. An L4, a 0700, a Pro2 and an old X-13/15. Oil's, springs, tires, camber, caster and an in the ballpark left rear weight percentage. Just something to start with so we can tune from there.

TIA

Want to say thanks to the BRP guys. Looks like our Spec class will be growing leaps and bounds. As you guys saw today eveyone was really close. We can't wait to race with you. I would say our Spec class will grow to 15-18 trucks each week. Thanks again.
