The Billy Leader Memorial Race has been moved to January 6th 2007. We've worked close with CRC raceway and did not want to conflict with their race. Now racers should be able to race both events without conflict! We Thank CRC Raceway for their support.

The classes for this race will be: 1/10 DD Stock, 1/12 DD Stock, and 1/10 stock truck.

Format will be just like our weekly racing. Our weekly race rules also apply. Doors will open at 9:00am with racing starting at 11:00am.

Entry fee is $20.00 per class with all the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House.

There will be a presentation with a representative from the Ronald McDonald House on hand.
Please bring some canned goods for the house too!

Any questions Fell Free to call me at Walt's Hobby 315-453-2291

Thanks
Todd

What are the rules for 1/10 stock truck?

I do not know the rules for sure, so hopefully Todd will correct me if I'm wrong here, but when i went out there to race trucks last week, it seemed that all the trucks running fit into the rules we use at CRC which are as follows.

Rules for the truck class: must have truck arms, truck tires, gear reduction transmission, and truck body (no car bodies). "Outlaw" truck type bodies from McAllister, Factory Works, etc. are allowed.

I do not work at Walt's, so please don't take this to be 100% true. It was just my observation when i was there that all the trucks running fit within these guidelines.

Can't wait for the 6th! see you guys in 2 weeks!

Happy Holidays!

John

I raced Tues. night and was upset to say the least that the rules for the truck class changed so drastically.
The new minimum weight is listed as 3lb. 3oz. this = 51 oz. I was told that this is roar weight, it is not as far as I can see. Roar lists stadium truck weight at 60 oz.(3lb. 12 oz.) as it always has been. Where did the new weight rule come from??
I saw a "truck" or two that were simply cars with truck tires racing. They had car arms and a narrow track. I have raced at Walts for about 8 years and the rule for trucks has always been that you must run truck arms and truck tires. I was told that because some of the guys were running trucks with offset chassis that it was the same. It is, in my opinion, not the same at all. The longer arms, tie rods, camber links, drive shafts, etc... along with the wider track, make it a completely different vehicle with completely different geometry and handling characteristics, not to mention the weight difference.
I guess I am just dissapointed that I had no idea of the changes untill Tues. and don't understand why they were made. I am in no way upset with the folks that showed up with the trucks in question as I am sure that they asked and were told that they would be allowed. If I was told this, I would have built a different truck, as would others. I just wish more consideration would have been given to the issue before wholesale changes were made.

Anyone interested in an obsolete carpet truck for sale cheap?

well not that it matters to me but ROAR never had a minimum width rule , always a MAX width rule, for years the wide trucks in oval racing have been dissapearing and people using CW GBX's and terminators are more common . we even had a guy put a 6 cell slider tray on a t4 last year and that was called legal , whatever floats your boat ....GO WITH THE FLOW !!!!!!
I have raced at Walts before and never saw the rules

Good Luck to all , whens the carpet classic making a comeback ??????

I made no reference to a "ROAR minimum width rule" Just the rule that always existed at the track.

I don't understand Keith you always ran a 4# truck and bragged when you won! that said there ALLWAYS was truck rules at Walts that said trk arms,trkwheels/tires 2.2 and trk bodies, however even on dirt tracks around CNY the serious trk racers are following the lead of offset chassis terminator style or cdk style.BTW it would be nice to see last nites results.

what don't you understand? And it was 4lbs 5 oz. lol.. I don't remember bragging though, just bustin your chops a little maybe.

And what dirt tracks are you referring to that allow car arms?

i understand the frustration with cars in the truck division i could care less about roar rules i belive if look at dirtoval nats (which is basically rules for trucks in an oval not off road like roar) they state that you have to have truck arms and truck tires i dont have a problem with the offset chassis i have a problem with narrow crucks but bottemline is if you want to race that is what you are racing i had the problem earlier in the year i decided i can get out or go home and get faster thats what i did you can beat the offset narrow crucks need to be on your game i know either way i will be there on sat with my t3 battery up the center

I didn't race enough places to list tracks or their rules but every place that don't tech (just about everyplace) You could race a "cruck" or otherwise obscure the accepted rules, now that I think about the weight rules( it was always 3#12 oz) I saw guys adding lead to acheive 3# 3oz how light were these trucks?

RacerJr

These trucks were as light as cars i guess lol i looked at some and there realy isnt much to them

Well how to put it nice. Is everyone still running 1200 batteries? Is everyone running a center battery car or truck at clay oval or carpet oval races? Are we still running stock motors we cann't take apart? Every class and yes even trucks has evolved over time. I understand your frustration, its in mans nature to resist it. But to put it plain and simple none of our cars from 10, 5 or even less than 2 years ago are the same. Technology is improving. Its not just with things like the spektrum, or batteries, and speed controls. Chassis change too!! Just look at the full size dirt modifieds.

I don't mean to start a war over this stuff, and everyone knows i'll help any one! But why is it when there is a problem in central NY the truck class is at the heart of the problem???? The weight rules is the same as CRC. And since they are right down the road it only makes sense to have simliar rules doesn't it.

This is year 2007 not 1980! I hope I didn't offend you guys but its time to wake up some time!

Any questions fell free to call me, or PM me!

im not trying to start trouble this race is for a great cause and we shouldnt tarnish that i understand change but dont you need basic rules such as min and max wheelbase (maybee thats why trucks as you said are the cause of so many problems) like i said i could care less about batt placement just one question what makes a truck a truck is it just the body or just the wheels or what ? again not trying to start anything just looking for someone elses opinon

I was'nt trying to start anything either just a comment on how things used to was, I may have been wrong about a trucker adding lead to make 3#3oz I think that he was trying to make 3# 12oz before he knew about the new rules. sorry. I'm also looking forward to the Leader as its always a good time for a good cause, hope to see you all there.
