Hi guys. Noobie to the forum here  .
I have an Ariens snowblower with an HM80 on it. Can't get it to run well. I rebuitl the carb, and it still floods out and is a bear to start. Compression is only 45lbs. I checked the valve clearnce (both .010?) The top of the piston is wet and the plug gets fouled quickly. I pulled the piston today and everything looks OK. The ring end gap is .025 on all 3. What should I check next?
Thanks Rich

i would start at compression, way too low. Flooding could be the cause of a stuck bowl on improper seating somewhere on it.

Does this HM80 have compression release? I have heard both. Also today when I took the camshaft out , it has some type of spring type cam on the end of it.
ThanksRich

Does it use a standard head gasket? Could that be bad or just not torqued down properly?

Valve clearance sounds in the ballpark...... BUT, how well do the seats look? back of valves?
And wet piston..... oil, or gas wet?
