hey all new guy to the rc world i got a traxxas rustler eletric. i need to replace the gear that the motor turns. what is that gear called? can i get 1 metal or do they all come plastic thanks stan

hmmmmm. well it sounds like your talking about the big plastic one. that gear is called a spur gear. and I think almoast all of the aftermarket spurs will fit on your truck. its kind of hard for me to explane wich ones would work well without going in depth but kimbrough gears Im almoast 100 percent shure will work. also make shure you get the same tooth count or very very close (like within a 2 or so teeth) also make shure that they are the same pitch. there are 64 pitch gears (tiny little teeth wich is not the one you need) 48 pitch (bigger and probably the one traxxis equiped on your truck) and new to the rc world is the new 34 pitch (huge teeth for monster trucking but you wont need this aggresive a pitch for your truck) so I would advise taking your truck and all its parts down to your local hobby shop and they should be able to point you in the right direction and should be more than willing to help. but welcome to hobby talk.

thanks i jumped head first into rc cars about 4 days ago i dont know anything about these things. theres a hobby shop a couple miles away, ill go down tomorrow and see what i need. the truck runs but clicks and that gear looks to have a few wore down teeth. what causes these to tear up?
