The Derby organisers have asked me to help locate #7 and #8 Tomy Turbo chassis. They are willing to buy if anyone knows a good source.

Another way would be for collectors to swap this chassis for others that are less 'racey'. They would only need to send the plastic lump itself, no axles or electricals. Please look to see if you have 7s and 8s under your shelf queens and ask your collecting buddies to do the same....

Grats for your victory

What a kind of game ? Is it a lotery ?
I have a #7 and a #8 !
And a strange #1 with the number upside down ...

Does the #6 exists ? :p

All I know is the 7 and 8 are the best ''racing'' chassis. I can give you the Derby email address and you can sort a swap with them?

Anybody know what's different? Traction magnet hang lower or something?

I have a couple with a "2" beside the guide pin on the bottom. Is that the # we're referring to? My cars were purchased recently. Wonder why I'd get #2's on new cars when "7" and "8" are out there..... Hmmm.

Same interrogation here.... What does it mean exactly?

I have some with number near guidepin....some upside down, some don't have any

Sorry guys I really don't know why the 7 and 8 are the best just that they are what the organisers want. I suggest you go to the DHORC website (http://www.dhorc.freeserve.co.uk/ClubInfo.htm) and email Phil Rees with your questions and offers....

I doubt that there is much difference. Usually the number on any plastic molded component simply identifies the cavity number that particular part came out of. Its used for quality control and tool maintainence. Generally these tools are 16 or 32 cavity tools. The #7 and #8 cars came from those cavities. Each cavity should be identical. When a part comes out as bad, an inspector can tell whether or not its all the parts or just the part in cavity number "x" - that way tool makers can inspect it and see what may be causing the problem.

I can only surmise that the 7 and 8 cavities may be closer to the runner, or a cooling line, giving it better properties than others? Other than that I don't think its a big deal. Unlike Tyco cars where the Malaysia chassis is preferred over China - this is becuse its completely different tooling and or slightly different material

Just my 2 cents.

well all I know is that wiser heads have stated these are the best chassis and (quite correctly) the organisers have decided that all teams should be equiped equally....
