I always loved Faller cars, just because they're different, but they're generally out of my price range. Several years ago I was lucky enough to trade a couple of Mercedes 230 bodies with a guy in New Zealand, of all places, but I haven't found anything since then... till a few months ago. I won a Fleabay auction lot of a few junker Faller bodies, including a 230 and a 300, each missing the roof, and an Opel Diplomat missing bumpers. The whole lot came in around 15 bucks with shipping, if I recall correctly. I finally got around to doing something with the 300:

it ain't perfect, but now I have a Mercedes to run around my track. The roof was left over from a JL '59 Impala that I converted to the top-down version, and the windshield is from some random diecast that I don't recall... it was in the parts box from another project. I hacked up a JL chassis to get it to fit somewhat... the slightly longer wheelbase than Aurora actually works better to try to get wheelwells lined up...

Pretty well done salvage, when you see how much they are priced (even in Europa)... the only way to own some is the "cuban" method :-)

thanks to all for the props...

hey michel, this lot had in it a 230 and a 300, both missing roof and windshield, and an Opel Diplomat missing its windows and bumpers. I think there was also a partial Faller chassis, or maybe it was a Bachmann chassis. Nothing mint, though not cut either... they'd be nice if I could find correct replacement parts...

The Diplomat is the one that looks like a 4-door mid '60s Chevelle, right? Maybe I need to find a junked MM Chevelle to fix that one up... hmmm...

And joez, yeah, I considered trying to open up the sides of the roof so the windows would be bigger and closer to "stock", but I kinda liked the look too...

Rick- Nice job. I hate having incomplete cars on the lot, especially when they are in great shape.

ParkRNDL,

Great job ... love it when guys salvage an old ride they really like. Creative with the roof as well. As said before, work you do on HO really astounds me. Keep posting your rides, I find your take most interesting . . .

Cheers,
Jas
