View Full Version : What car to buy?
JamminRacing7 11-10-2006, 06:47 PM I'm getting ready to purchase a pan car for brushless racing. I've raced a pan car before years ago. There are so many choices of cars these days, I'd like to possilby narrow it down. So far I really like the Hyperdrive Pro 3 Solid. Is there something better?

all of the pan cars out there are very good. if i was you i would look at what the locals are running and what has the most parts available where you race. the leading edge cars and the silva cars are maybe a little easier to set up and work very good. having not worked with the hyperdrive cars i'm not sure what there like but as i said above they all are good choices.
latemodel100 11-10-2006, 07:13 PM Ok do a search on here for the best chassis or best car or best kit, I bet you get your answer pretty fast, welcome to Hobbytalk, in the future do a search for your answer, this question has been beaten to death...........
I use an older caar and still finishing with great results, so no matter what you get it will work, just do the right changes and build it correctly.
The best is:
Hyperdrive, KSG, RIP, LE, Assoc, IRS, Bandit, Maverick, Darkside, and many more out there............
k4mike 11-10-2006, 07:30 PM Hobbyten is right. Look and see what the locals are mostly running. That way you can get parts and setup help. After you have raced for a while and get more familiar with whats out there then you can change if you want. As far as parts availability its hard to beat a 10L4 though.

2Groovy4U 11-10-2006, 08:16 PM JamminRacing7, What type of ttrack are you going to race @? I have both the HD Pro 3 solid and slider, both are great cars. I like the solid car for the banked track we run at and the slider on flat tracks. (slider flexes more so gives the car more turn in). You can go either way but I would only go HD!!!
DIRTsportsman 11-10-2006, 09:47 PM I like my l4. pretty fast out of the box and like k4mike said you cant beat the parts avaliability. Plus im pretty sure most kits use associated frontends so you could always upgrade.

To answer your question in all honesty NOT REALLY, all the cars are great it just comes down to tuning for yourself. Your present direction is a GREAT one Hyperdrive has been in pan car oval racing forever, so it seems, and have thousands of wins to their credit.
The present PRO 3 comes with all you will need to be competitive in brushless as far as a rolling chassis kit is concerned. It will be a great choice to start and grow with. Good luck and have fun:thumbsup:
rickster58 11-11-2006, 11:35 AM Buy a fast one!
Butters16 11-11-2006, 11:53 AM My recommendation on which car to purchase would be the one the local Hobby Shop carries parts for. Try to help the locals if possible to keep the track in operation.
I have the pro 3 and the rip car. thy are both fast
I will through in a vote for KSG Gen 2.

Probably the best answer given.
TeamGoodwrench 11-18-2006, 02:15 PM I've run the 10L3O, Hyperdrive 0700, Hyperdrive Pro 2, the KSG, and now both of the Maverick '05 cars.
I love the Maverick cars -- and you get top notch support from Jake and his crew. Plus the Maverick guys here are really helpful (on the Maverick support thread).
So far the '05.5 HE has been the most versatile car for me -- runs super on flat carpet as well as on banked concrete on caps.
The Maverick is a super nice car,the one you need is the one that your local track and racers support,so that you have someone to turn to when you need help with set ups and such.

I recently switched cars based on this exact reason, and I am ecstatic to have done so. When I was running my old one I would have trouble with it, nad would be pretty much on my own to figure it out. Switching to the LE car like most of the local racers around here has been the best move I made with my oval racing..
