I get this work order from my boss yesterday...he says go fix it....okay. The complaint was that it was leaking oil everywhere with BILLOWS of white smoke...hmm i wonder. I go to check the oil and SEE THE OIL LEVEL A HALF INCH FROM THE TOP. They had so much excess oil in there i couldda used it on another engine.....
...i don't know if people are just this uneducated, or let their kids do it?

bsman ,
i have sold lawnmowers to people before and get a call 2 weeks later of the same thing , it seems to be a paranoia w/ ppl that they are going to run the mower out of oil , i tell all my customers to check the mower for oil each and every time before useing it , but you do get those who add oil , and can't judge how much to put in

madmanmoose ,
i've seen some stuff that is nuts before , i had one customer buy a scotts mower w/ the 6.5 briggs motor , she'd swear it wouldn't start and i would go to check it out and it would start fine , come to find out she was priming it 1 time instead of 3 to 5 times , i had another guy who needed the carb replaced on his 4 hp briggs quatro motor he said the plastic carb broke mowing under a bush , when i looked at him like i didn't buy that he says "ok i got mad because it wouldn't start and kicked it " but there have been other customers too , i did a riding mower repair for this guy , it wasn't getting fuel , so after checking the carb , fuel filter ect i figure out that they have the gas cap on soo tight it wasn't allowing gas to flow from the tank .
